EDIT : It is with great sorrow that we find ourselves having to announce that our colleague and mentor Saltigi Biram Puuy sadly passed away on Saturday, 2nd February 2019. We have been in touch with his family and would like to offer our heartfelt and sincere condolences. He was more than a colleague to us, but a family. A wonderful and gifted human being, and always willing to help others without expecting or asking for anything in return. If you even tried to give him anything in return for his services he would refuse to take it. He was a true Seereer and Saltigi who always carried himself with dignity, pride and honour. May Roog Seen, the Pangool and ancestors open the gate of Jaaniiw and let him enter. Goliŋ!

Biram Puuy is a Seereer High Priest (saltigi). In December 2015, The Seereer Resource Centre (SRC) in collaboration with Seereer Radio were given an audience to conduct an interview with him as part of The Seereer Resource Centre's work on documenting and preserving Seereer culture, history and religion. Tamsier Joof and Demba Sene (members of The Seereer Resource Centre and presenters on Seereer Radio) were the interviewers. Other panel members included Professor Issa Laye Thiaw, Momodou Secka and Njaga Gaye.

This interview was conducted at Saltigi Biram Puuy's house in Joobaas, Senegal. Apologies for the background noise from the other household members.

Saltigi Biram Puuy rarely give interviews and is now less active as a "Saltigi" (Seereer High Priest), preferring to focus his time and efforts on Seereer religion, culture and history. We were fortunate enough to have an audience with him. The SRC and Seereer Radio would like to thank him for his time and generosity. He prefer to give knowledge and expects nothing in return, and we are truly grateful for his wisdom, honesty and generosity.
