Join me as I recount the experience of staying in hospital to get gender confirmation surgery (GCS)!

On 12th October, I had a vaginoplasty performed by Ms Tina Rashid at Parkside Hospital in London. This was an extremely challenging experience but also the best moment of my life. In this video, I'll be talking about what I went through while in hospital, as well as my thoughts and feelings around it. It's a long video, sorry!! I'm still getting the hang of this.

now, you might be wondering why i haven’t made a follow up video to this. i did record one around december, but kinda never got around to editing and publishing it. i’m just kinda lazy! i’ll work on a proper follow up video (with q&a) eventually. turns out video is a lot of work, haha. feel free to ask any questions below.

I had my surgery last August and had a brief moment of panic as I was being wheeled back to the operating room. There was a second of "am I making the right decision?" I think that's normal. More than anything I was more afraid of something going wrong with anesthesia and not waking up. My doctors have said my recovery has been much more difficult than their other patients. I had A LOT of hyper granuloma tissue in the months following and super intense nerve pain. I absolutely couldn't handle doing it on my own in the beginning--I could hardly walk and I'd get SO tired. I'm so thankful that I was able to have my mom with me. Even with all the difficulties and how annoying it can be to dilate so often for a while, I have no regrets.

I think you should only have surgerys if its to save your life or a real medical condition

I truly wish this is the best decision for you and that you have long lasting mental and physical health. This is obviously a huge decision so good luck!

Just had surgery to remove plates and screws from my arm, I WAS ANXIOUS, so no idea how you could face having this done. Takes guts. The drive must be so strong. ❤
  • Congratulations Maisie! Also, thank you for the video, very insightful.

Maisie, thank you so much for doing this. I certainly appreciate how you talked so much about your feelings. There are bunches of YouTube videos about vaginoplasty but none talk so much about the emotions as your’s did. I’m having my surgery done in a couple of weeks and I would absolutely love if you did a follow up one. Thanks again, Dani

Do you not think that the fragility, anxiety and emotional distress before your surgery was less to do with the cessation of your medication, and more to do with the enormity of the decision to undergo surgical genital mutilation?
  • Do you know how long is the waiting list from Parkside Hospetal for trans women bottom Surgery
  • I was at parkside at the same time . Mine was October 15 th 2023. Had mine done by Dr bellringer.

What a wonderful video, I was just referred for vaginoplasty and I've been doing a bit of research on it. Hearing stories like this is just getting me even more excited!
  • @robynrox
I'm on the waiting list! Almost certainly going to have labiaplasty rather than vaginoplasty. I've had a letter to say they're not taking referrals at present and that I will remain on the waiting list, so I guess there's going to be some delay. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
