A new disease called "cannabis hyperemesis syndrome" is on the rise due to increased marijuana use. In this video we explain the science behind what is going on. Some scientists think that the legalization of marijuana may be under threat, other think awareness is all the matters - let's see how it all plays out.

It's almost like everything needs to be done in moderation.

“People are vomiting uncontrollably because of weed!” Alcoholics: “first time?”
  • Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.

Regular smoker for over 50 years I had something similar a few months back that happened every few days for a few weeks. I didn't see a doctor haven't seen one for decades. Have a variety of strains to switch between to reduce tolerance. After realizing it was the gg 4 every time I was sick I then started inspecting the inside of the buds closely. What I found was small amounts of mold. And mold can cause headaches stomach cramps and vomiting. I composted what was left from that plant. Haven't been sick since.

Honestly, this increase in ER visits might not even mean an increase in total actual cases. Just now that it is not illegal, people are more willing to seek medical treatment instead of being fearful of what the authorities will do.

Governments need to realize that "regulating" recreational cannabis doesn't just mean taxing the hell out of the revenue generated from it, but QUALITY CONTROL as well. Not just anyone should be allowed to grow and sell the stuff.

So partaking in moderation rather than constantly trying to green out is the key to avoiding scrommiting. When I could still smoke the stuff it was a small amount. Enough to get a buzz and relax a bit on occasions.

“Weed shouldn’t be legal because it makes people throw up” looks at alcohol

As a cannabis lover for over 40 years I can't imagine smoking 8 joints a day. I can't imagine smoking 4 joints a day. I can't even imagine smoking 2 joints a day. The flower today is so potent that just a couple puffs is all I need for multiple hours of effective results. If you overdo just about anything you will achieve a negative result. People need to learn to moderate their intake and everything will be fine.

Long term smoker here, but living for 15 years in India. The plants we have here are non-hybrid and have lower levels of THC. The buds you have in North-America are sooo strong.

You know what, that shit got me sober, helps me with my Ed and confidence, and most of all helps block out CPTSD nightmares by not dreaming. This is the safest thing I’ve ever used, and congrats to anyone staying sober and might use weed occasionally. Don’t let anyone dictate YOUR sobriety. Just be safe, mindful, function, and know your limits ❤️

I used to work at an edible place and someone did get sick from doing too much! They were eating edibles on an empty stomach every single day and not having appetite for months so it was really just a matter of time. Hopefully people figure out how to chill instead of overdosing themselves

Doesn't the fact that weed is legal make the work of these researchers much easier? They have more and better data to work with since people don't fear legal retaliation. They could, eventually, inform the public about safe weed usage and its real consequences. Since, as you said, most of this research is done in placed where it is legalized, this may be the case. BTW, I'm a frequent weed user and I love that your videos show the negative health effects of smoking pot. Better to be informed!

As a former commercial grower, I'd like to say that often THC is the culprit. Cannabis has over 400 cannabinoids and all except for CBD are ignored. Straight cannabis can cause headaches, anxiety, nausea and vomiting. The only way to avoid this is to make an essential oil from the whole plant. It's called Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO for short. A solvent (Acetone) is used to strip the plant of everything, then the liquid is strained and reduced down to a thick paste with low heat. You stay higher, longer with none of the side effects.

As a near-daily cannabis user for the past few years, I can say I've definitely felt nauseous at times and even started oversalivating, which typically happens before someone vomits. But I've never actually vomited. I just stopped smoking for the day and would be fine the next. It's definitely important for people to exercise moderation, especially as more people use cannabis to self-medicate

It’s nice to see weed related diseases being taken more seriously. I wish there was more research on its relationship with anxiety. For myself and a lot of other people, once I started getting older, weed just made me anxious instead of feeling fun/good. It made it really easy to quit but I’ve always wondered why that was the case.

My doctor misdiagnosed me with this. Only had 1 symptom of it, vomiting. It wasnt as extreme as the disease describes, it was random, and almost always before or during work. He was a crappy doctor. I told him, I didnt think it was that, he didnt wanna listen. It ended up stopping when I quit my job. My job at the time was highly toxic, and I would get screamed at by managers and customers, daily. The scheduling manager also decided to make my life as inconvenient as possible, going as far as to say I can have a day off for an appointment, and then changing the schedule the literal day before to make me work that day. They also gossiped and spread lies bout me to other coworkers. Once I quit that job, everything was better. And I could still keep smoking (within moderation) 😊 He refused to change the diagnoses by the way, even after being proven wrong. He just dismissed it as weed addiction, and that I was being an "uncoroperative patient". Im in Colorado btw. So based on anti-weed doctors, Id question the prevalence.

i started smoking in 2019 and in 2021 is when the fits started getting bad. i've been hospitalized for diagnosed with CHS everytime. these puking fits would last days until i did go to the ER and i'd be puking every 5-30 mins. the worst stomach pain i'd ever felt. and the only thing that helped ironically was the weed, but i was too sick to even think about smoking. i'm so glad this is being talked abt

I like how "cannabis hyperemisis syndrome" just literally means "what happens when too much weed inya blud"
