It's almost the ultimate compliment. I moved to a new country, learned the language as good as I could before moving. After 2,5 years I can manage perfectly, I understand everybody and everybody understands me, but... to sound like a native, and be able to express yourself as a native... that's really something else!

How beautiful to cross so seamlessly between so many cultures and their languages. You are an inspiration and I wish I could be like you. I do speak English, French, Spanish and German but your skill is so very special. Thank you for making the world a better place.
  • @SchrijverMarcel
When I think the world is going to sh*it, I watch one or two of your videos.
  • Your understanding of all the differences in cultures is equally impressive, maybe even more so. --- Thanks for the great upload. ---

Very good! I liked the middle school girls in the sailor outfits. They were a bit nervous at first and then warmed up!
  • There's a place near where I live that specializes in making just phở. Really good place, so you get people in there who speak different languages. Entire families speaking together at their tables. You'll hear Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, English, German, and a few others. This video reminds me of when I go there, because you'll hear something and start to giggle, and the people at the other table will realize you understand them. You might speak in English, but they might answer in Chinese. It's very much like in Star Wars, where everybody speaks their own language, but everyone understands each other. It's pretty awesome. Your video put a big smile on my face. Thanks!!!

These are my favourite video's of the various content that you produce. Part of me enjoys how you subvert the expectations of the people you interact with, by being able effectively communicate in their native languages. The other part of me likes how the interactions change, because of your abilities in the dominant languages spoken in Japan, China and Korea. My Japanese language ability is improving, slowly, but never the less improving. Your and Tommy's Patreon Lessons give directly applicable words and phrases used in day to day conversations and interactions. This is an added benefit to being able to support a brilliant content creator. Your content, inspires my language journey, informs me of interesting people and places that you meet and go to. Explain things that confuse or confound me in the Japanese language and culture, and finally entertain the heck out of me. Any day Anming 7 uploads a new video on the Oriental Pearl Channel, is a good day made better.

Even knowing a little of the language in the country you are in is super helpful. I'm not very good, but my limited Japanese helped immensely when at ordering food and shopping, especially at the Japanese convenience stores.
  • @whushaw
Anming's glitches in the matrix never fail to impress! With all the different languages and demographics of people she communicates with, it's always fun to see the friendly banter between them. 💜

Whoever did the editing on this video deserves a raise, because it's beautiful.

The Canto at the end was a nice touch. Good to see that there's a Cantonese speaker and establishment in Japan.
  • @em1osmurf
when i speak different languages, it's mental shifting almost into a different persona for each. big change from spanish speaking culture to direct-pointed russian, and your bouncing from chinese to japanese brings it out. one's personality literally changes like a whiplash. i was stunned when i discovered this--i suspect you already have. love this channel!
  • @Cinetyk
This is just such cool stuff LIKE ALWAYS. I am from Portugal, I learned some Japanese, I was never so insanely good as you are but I understand the feeling of not being asian yet being able to understand the local languages. My dream is to not have to work so I can have time to learn Mandarin. The world is so big, why limit oneself to their native language.... THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS. Please keep it up! You just can totally tell from people how nice it is for foreigners to speak their language. The smiles... so nice :)

Can I just say I adore these people, and their sheer delight with foreigners that can speak their language? Their joy fills my heart with joy!
