Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif has broken her silence following the ongoing gender controversy surrounding the boxer.

The boxer spoke to SNTV, the sports video partner of The Associated Press, on Sunday.

Khelif revealed the criticism she has received over the misconceptions of her gender “harms human dignity”.

The Algerian has asked for the bullying to end, stating she has been greatly impacted by the backlash.

“I send a message to all the people of the world to uphold the Olympic principles and the Olympic Charter, to refrain from bullying all athletes, because this has effects, massive effects,” she said.

“It can destroy people, it can kill people’s thoughts, spirit and mind. It can divide people. And because of that, I ask them to refrain from bullying.”

If there is a death, will the Olympic Committee stand trial for negligent manslaughter?
  • Stop the bullying? Isn't he the one who bullies women in the ring? This coward destroys a woman and then cries victim.
  • What destroys human dignity is for a woman having to fight a man and then be told you have no right to complain..
  • We wouldn't want the guy that physically beats up women to get verbally bullied... That would be terrible...
  • This guy is beating up on girls and then asking people to stop bullying him? What a joke
  • Not she, stop playing this sick game, every time you play, you endanger a real woman’s life. ENOUGH ALREADY.
  • Are we supposed to feel bad that a guy who beats up women is feeling bullied. Get the f over it and go fight other men. And the Olympic Committee should all should be made to step into the ring with Tyson.
  • So the Algerian boxer complains of bullying, what does he call what he has done to the women in the ring He should never been allowed in the women's boxing ring
  • @Havingacrack
All woman boxers in Olympics should stand together against this

Just as expected ,PLAYING THE VICTIM. What a disgrace
  • Insanity . Unfair and shows the Olympics are not empowering women , never have.
  • Bullying is not good. Men shouldn't bully women in the boxing ring with their unfair advantage. It's opportunistic and "small."

That's not a her, or a she and I question the journalistic integrity of anyone who refers to him as such. It's not bullying or phobic, it's reality.

After beating a woman to submission, he's now the victim. Wow, how brave of you mister. Have some shame and quit.
