  • I would say that the Reapers are very susceptible to the adult Ghost Leviathans, because Reapers could be so easily lured away to the crater edge, where multiple Ghosts could all gang up on them. There are several Reaper skeletons in the Lost River/Lava Zone that the PDA tells you were lured there by Sea Dragons, so they can clearly be easily tricked into entering dangerous areas filled with predators.
  • considering the reaper is made of almost pure muscle. and the ghost leviathan is pretty slim. i assume it would win
  • @RprShadow
Additional point about the ghost leviathans. Theres some reason to suggest that behavior wise they might actually travel in groups. Since the longer you're in the void the more adults show up, up to 3 i believe. So at the very least, the sound of one adult ghost attacking something seems to attract more adults. Where as lore-wise and in gameplay im pretty sure Reapers control their own territories more or less in total solitude.

Personally having killed 17 Reapers and 5 Ghosts in the game, I would point out that the Reapers actually put up more of a fight. I do not know what it was about but once they had latched on to my suit and shook it a little, they always turned around and swam either to the surface and swam really fast to in some instances several hundred meters away while I was still latched on to them. And the ones near the areas with the Crater Edge nearly always swam beyond the Crater Edge to force me to let go of them or to fall to my doom. They also (Reapers) liked to swim headfirst into the Seabed at times. While Ghost Leviathans (mostly Juveniles) just rammed themselves against walls trying to get to me. They did flee as well. One even brought me to the Inactive Lava Zone Entrance trying to either escape or destroy my Suit. Adult Ghost Leviathans loved to swim right to the Void or surface to get rid of me. Obviously the fact being that the Ghost Leviathans both Juvenile and Adult do not have grab attacks like the Reapers so they could not fight back as fiersely. But both did like attacking my Prawn Suit even when I was not inside it. So TLDR Reapers seemed to have more strategies to get rid of me than Ghosts. Cant wait to see how Shadow Leviathans and Chelicerates react to me fighting them. And yeah I would love to see a Part 2 to this. Perhaps Reaper Leviathan vs Chelicerate or Juvenile/Adult Ghost Leviathan vs Void Chelicerate/Shadow Leviathan. Or Shadow Leviathan vs Reaper Leviathan. Sea Dragons would be way too OP against Shadows or Chelives (Void or Normal). And there is one more thing to consider. The Squidshark is listed as a Leviathan Class predator in the smaller class. What would happen if you would put lets say 5 or more Squidsharks vs a Reaper or a Cheli or even a Shadow? That would be interesting I bet.

I’ve noticed that the reaper usually has to swim further forward before turning around where the Ghosts seem to be able to turn around a bit sharper so I feel that would play a part too.
  • I would like to see more of these videos as they are really interesting. Maybe Shadow leviathan vs. Sea Dragon?

even knowing that the ghost leviatan is way more dangerous in almost every sense, i cant avoid feeling more scary the reaper

For measuring speeds, what you could do is use console commands to freeze time, warp to a specific point, spawn the enemy, then warp to a point that's as far as possible while still in aggro range (you could spawn a seamoth there as bait), then reenable time and use the stopwatch feature on your phone to time how quickly it reaches its target. Then repeat using the same warp coords for the other creature.
  • This was such a cool idea! I hope you do more! I love seeing your breakdowns of subnautica.
  • @DatOneMudkip
Maybe the reaper could latch on to the ghost leviathan with it's mandibles and avoid the ghost leviathan's attacks.
  • i think intelligence should be another factor to imploment, as well as maneuverability.

Here's a description of the fights Reaper vs Juvenile After escaping the deep dragon from hell, the Reaper swam for its territory. The waters themselves seemed foreign here, the green tinted surroundings distracted the beast, but the large skull it runs into makes it roar. After it stops, the Reaper hears a roar from the skull. It never had anything like this happen before, why was the dead roaring back? That's when he sees it, the transparency of the blue bodied predator. Another creature to challenge the Reaper. Neither behemoth hesitated, that swam towards eachother. The Reaper's speed caught the Ghost of gaurd, it swam quickly and sunk its talon's in. The Ghost roared and lunged forwards, ripping it's own skin and forcing its way free. The Reaper closed in again, the Ghost felt the serrated teeth of its attacker. The Reaper let its prey go for a moment, savoring the flavor of its new prey. The Ghost never fought anything before, it only preyed. The Reaper turned to face the Ghost. Its taste for blood only made it more aggressive. The Ghost lunged, catching the Reaper of gaurd this time. It used its surprise to bite a chunk out of the warrior leviathan. The Reaper swung its tail, knocking the Ghost back. The two rushed eachother, they missed, but they slashed eachother with the Ghost's head, and the Reaper's talon's. The Reaper loses its left eye while the Ghost is cut down the side of its body. The Reaper uses the pain for rage, and the rage for power. The Ghost attacks from the new blind spot, taking a massive chunk out of the Reaper's tail. It lunges and slams into the side of its predator. The Reaper is knocked backwards into the massive skull of the once Apex Predator. The Reaper roars and bolts. Its speed is too much for the Ghost, its sinks its talon's in and ripped outwards. The raw force of the Reaper rips open the Ghost's torso, its inside spilling out for the lesser to feed on, the Reaper however, takes the first bite. Reaper vs Ghost It made it home a while ago. It's scars spoke for themselves, not one of its kind dared to challenge it. Any foolish enough to do so was slaughtered swiftly. The Reaper was tired, it wanted new game. It didn't want to waste time on the weaker beast of the sea. Its scars ached, but seemed to do so only when they faced a certain direction. The Reaper took note of this and used it to find new prey. It swam for no more than a few minutes before it reached the edge. The void. It looked on, but it's one good eye couldn't see far. It swam on, it felt this was the right choice. It figured something was out here, something interesting. It's thoughts were answered as a familiar roar rang out in the abyss. The Reaper looked down to see a transparent blue behemoth. It lunged at the Reaper, sending it upwards. It went for a bite, but the Reaper narrowly escapes. It rears back and roars before it swim in, it's powerful talon's rake the belly of the beast. The Ghost leviathan swung it's head towards the Reaper, but the wounded warrior was too fast. It dodged and bit at the hide of the Ghost leviathan. This continued on for several minutes before the Reaper was hit. It's tail was grabbed and bitten off. The Reaper roared loud enough to catch the attention of another Ghost leviathan. One was deadly, two was death. The Reaper tried to swim away, but without its tail, it wouldn't get far. The Ghost leviathans closed in, they took a bit off all four of the Reaper's talons. The blood loss was too much, it was too slow, and now, the gates of hell opened to welcome it home.

Correction; Reapers don't have an instant-death grab. All that happens is that the Reaper tries to melee-attack you; If that damage is enough to kill you after modifiers (modifiers like the Reinforced Dive Suit) then you get the grab-and-chomp animation. If the damage is not enough to kill you, there is no animation. Source: Me, after reading the OnTouch() method in the ReaperMeleeAttack class in the decompiled code. Aside: strangely-enough it seems that, at least of Living Large, the Reaper's Cyclops damage is 160, not 220. Again, the source is the ReaperMeleeAttack class in the code.
  • Reapers are way more aggressive than ghosts so getting the first hit is very helpful
  • Probaby the best thing I've seen, and it isn't hypothetical either, was the Juvie ghost over the pit to the lava zone past the Disease research facility, taking on a sea dragon. I.... actually shat myself because I'd been doing my lazy run to the lava castle with just my seaglide..... the Sea dragon had actually followed me to the entrance and I must have triggered an attack from the ghost. I got out of the way and hadn't realised the Sea dragon was RIGHT THERE. So.... they started fighting each other and I left. I didn't think the Sea dragons would follow you that far but apparently I was wrong.
  • another bar you could include in the stat block would be intelligence, can matter quite a bit in a fight
  • Think you did a fantastic assessment and would love to see more!
