Nintendo supporting physical media is a plus too.
-
Nintendo understands the essence of gaming is fun, not pushing pixels.

The switch truly was Saturu Iwata's dream, and it's a tragedy he didn't get to see the system single-handedly revive Nintendo. We used to complain about no wallpapers and folders, imagine how much MORE personality the switch would have with him still around.

Outdated hardware is frustrating, but I wouldn't mind 10 year generations becoming the new norm. I like the idea of not having to drop $300-$500 on a new console every five or six years. Edit: I literally just said it'd be nice to not have to spend large amounts of money so often and now some people in the replies are mad 🤨Take a shower and spend some time offline you guys.

Nintendo combining their handheld and home console was one of the best decisions they’ve made. Now we got all those games on one console and it’s awesome. We’re getting the handheld-like games this year with Zelda and M&L, and most people love the handheld-like games too. So for fans, it’s a win. That’s part of the reason why even in its 8th year, Switch is still delivering new first party games. As long as Nintendo is still selling a lot of software, they can afford to wait on Switch 2 and it seems like all these newly announced games will do well.

The Switch is different because it's the first time in 30+ years that Nintendo is supporting a single system. Having all their studios and partners developing games for the same platform is a game changer, this is why the Switch library is insane and just keeps growing. The only reason Nintendo stopped ruling the industry in the late 90s and let Sony take over was because they were diluting their efforts across two different markets at the same time. They were succeeding at both, but at the cost of losing the crown in the console space.

The Switch’s lifespan is double the Wii U’s. Dang…
-
Remember when before the Switch launched, so many said it was gonna flop so hard? And all of the videos of defective units and people freaking out? Times changed quickly
-
Nintendo has such a strong line up this year that it’s hard to think of this as being the final dedicated year for Switch.
-
Nintendo figured out a long time ago that innovation, good games, "Good Enough" graphics, and keeping costs down is better than wasting money worrying about the "Graphics Arms Race" to nowhere.
-
Something that doesn’t get mentioned enough: because it’s going into its eight year, there are kids just now being old enough to play games. Kids born literally on launch day. There are new customers for the Switch aging into the platform as we speak. The Switch 2 may be on its way, but Christmas is too and there are going to be some very happy kids playing their first console before 2025 and it’s likely to be the Switch.
-
Imagine holding not having Madden or CoD against a platform.
-
One thing you can't accuse Nintendo of doing with the Switch, is that it has no games. The amount of 1st party support they have provided on the console is unheard of.
-
I really hope the next Nintendo console is backwards compatible with the Switch’s library of games. I don’t want to have to start over on a new console.
-
This isn't a swan song, it's a full out orchestra!
-
Nintendo knows software matters for their consoles

It genuinely is insane how Nintendo came out of the dumps of arguably the worst performing system of all time to arguably the best performing system of all time.
-
This is NOT normal, but it SHOULD be the new normal. Consoles can give so much more than companies give them credit for. Xbox Series X and PS5 could give us SO MUCH more for years to come but we ball know they wont even begin to touch the limit of their potential.
-
I'm not one to shill for nintendo, but you can't deny it. They know how to run things.

I’ve been a gamer since the 2600 and I can honestly say, the switch has become my favorite console. The library spans from the 70s to today. It’s all about the games! Definitely the best library of games I’ve owned.
