Awesome video. Very helpful. I got my pump replaced today. NOTE: DO NOT TEST WITHOUT MIDDLE RACK INSTALLED or you'll get a nice leak from the front and chase that down for like 5 hours...
  • My exact issue as well. This video was extremely helpful. Our LG dishwasher had all the symptoms mentioned in the video (the washer didn't complete the cycle, there were dirty dishes with dirty water in the dishwasher filter region, the detergent wouldn't empty from the detergent bin, and the high pitched whine was heard with Drain Error on the display). I called LG service and they indicated that it would cost $90 to have a local repair person come by and make an assessment. Of course there would have been additional cost for labor and the $50 part would have likely been marked up by the service company by 100%. I was able to fix the dishwasher, prevent landfill waste and I probably saved between 2-300$ in the process. Many thanks. The dishwasher is working perfectly now. The spare part was ordered from e-bay for $52 including the shipping. I also noted that checking the resistance of the drain pump with a multitester was useful. The bad drain pump measured 9-11ohms and the replacement was 2 ohms further giving indication that the repair mentioned in this video would solve the problem. I didn't have to replace the black rubber one way reflux preventing valve in the sump housing adjacent to the drain pump. That valve could only be seen on my unit after the faulty drain pump was removed and it was obvious that the rubber valve was positioned correctly and did not need to be replaced. Save yourself the money and prevent landfill waste by fixing this problem yourself!! This is a low to mild complexity fix. Thanks for this great video. I didn't have to go out and buy a new dishwasher!

This was Extremely helpful!!!! Thank you for making this video! Our pump makes that exact whine. This is stuff the manual doesn’t tell you. They just want you to call their technicians and charge you $$$$.
  • Thanks. Was able to fix my dishwasher with help from this video and one other one that pointed me to it being a drain pump issue
  • Thanks for making this! Helped us diagnose our dishwasher and realize the pump was gone.
  • This video was spot on for my problem. My Symptom was that pump would not run continuously when in drain mode. One or two second bursts. New pump runs continuously in drain mode.

Thank you for the video even it is likes 4yrs already.. It helps me in my diagnosis and pump replacement as shown in your other videos.
  • Thanks for this. Helped me diagnose the problem with my DW and have the confidence to fix it myself.

Although I have a Siemens the tip about the pump giving a high pitched whine if bad was helpful, good video thanks for uploading!

Thanks for this good video. Can you show how to take off the bottom part that cover the pump in normal LG .
  • Great video. Explain everything quickly. Not my exact model but close enought

I had the OE error, drain program did not work; ended up blowing in the hose a couple times, did the trick :)
  • Thanks for this video.! I need to recap on how to reinstall a drain pump. This is the second time I've had to replace it. I'll never buy an LG product again.

I have a kdp6787bd, high pitched whine at start up sounds like pump, but no discharge to the disposal. When I cancel cycle it drains fairly quietly. Is it the grinder bearing in the pump making the noise? Not throw a code but this thing is noisey.

Thanks for the helpful video. Pulled the pump and it registered the right ohms. I was checking the impeller, and I was able to pull it away from the housing just a tad (sounded like removing a suction cup). Reinstalled it and it now it works fine...no more residual water. Hope this may help someone.

Tried pushing those 2 buttons, but it looks like delicate button not responding. Any idea?

My LG Dishwasher has buttons on the outside of the door, and has some different descriptions/labels on the buttons, 'Dual Intensity - Auto - Eco - Quick&Dry - Quick', model is LD-1482W4, which button combo is needed to turn the drain pump on. Normal use I hear it start, water comes out at the sink, yet I still get the error, it does how ever only run for short bursts
