Astronaut Leo Davidson whips through space and time to a world where apes and gorillas rule the humans. Captured, he is nurtured by Ari and hunted by General Thade as he leads a rebel group of humans and chimpanzees in search of his downed craft. This is his only hope of escape and, ironically, the planet's only hope of shaking off the tyranny of the gorillas, allowing peaceful humans and chimpanzees to co-exist.

Thade has always intrigued me. Although smaller than most of the apes, he’s so much stronger than even his gorilla soldiers.
-
"I’m tired of this human”.Thade is badass.

I swear every movie that used prosthetic makeup for a race or something back then always had at least 1 character that had a striking resemblence to Michael Jackson....
-
RIP, Michael Clarke Duncan...

This movie was actually pretty good. My only major complaint was the ending which they left so open and couldn’t be arsed to do a sequel. Don’t get me wrong I love the reboot movies we have, but still wished we got a sequel to this one.

I actually liked Planet of the Apes 2001 and was hoping to see a continuation of the movie with the same actor.
-
There is something to be said for the realism of practical effects.
-
This movie scores so low on IMDb but I think it's actually pretty decent. Watched it as a kid, the ending always stuck with me.

when the one actor said....Semos help me.....that was freakin epic.....that voice actor should of got paid waaaaaaaayyyyyy more than any other actor on set......BIG TIME!!!!!!.....

"I'm tired of this human. Baaahhhhh!" 💀
-
Imagine if both humans and apes left the planet and fought their battles in space! That'll be epic!
-
Thade was smart to start with a minor squirmish then full on attack so he could see what weapons Leo had.
-
Tim Roth - A great actor with great makeup. Blonde human sidekick - awful actor with one facial expression. No idea who she is.
-
Everyone, look at the video length and the year of the movie.

No matter how many times I watch this movie, it gives me goosebumps🤯the power of religion and ignorance, this movie is a portrait of the beginning of human civilizations from a 3rd person perspective, all the misunderstandings and belief beyond reason
-
Thade made this movie good job Tim Roth
-
Honestly, when I was little I thought Ari was portrayed by Janet Jackson 😬

Love or hate this movie, you still have to admit that the prosthetic makeup on actual real actors in the flesh over cgi and practical effects looks way better than the cgi-flooded newer movies. I love the way Tim Roth’s actual eyes especially really pop against the makeup and you can see the quality of his acting from him himself, not a cgi avatar indirectly binded to him through a computer. Tim Burton movies always look great and have fabulous prosthetic makeup and actors. I appreciate it.

Always got to be a kid who thinks he’s a badass but almost screws things up.

Good science fiction film! I like this scene of the nuclear powered rocket engine final blast. The rocket fires off after two thousand years.
