Disney is infamous for keeping a tight hold on it's copyright, including taking it to extremes with things that TECHNICALLY fall under public domain in their original format. Well, that is not what happened with Finding Nemo. You see, the story of Finding Nemo is VERY similar to a not as well known children's story. One that is NOT in the public domain. Today, Theorists, we are going to dive deep and figure out if Disney actually STOLE the story of Finding Nemo!

Mickey and Mat used to be mortal enemies, and now they're just like those friends who annoy the heck out of each other but still manage to be friends.

"it feels weird to come down on Disney's side for this one" the mouse done warned you wouldn't like what you would find, matthew

I love how careful game theory is with matpat's script. " He needs to provide substantial similarity" the tone of the subject became more passive and sincere at that moment.
  • @icypika
Mickey slowly becoming more insane each time he shows up. Amazing
  • @jaydentorres254
I love how this is the one video where Mickey doesn’t sound like a total psycho. Just a partial one
  • im french and everytime i heard matpat speaking french i laugh the worst part is that he wasnt that bad (i heard worst)
  • “It makes it unclear when Disney is dong something wrong vs when a lawsuit is just another shameless cash grab” Oh like the live action remakes
  • @iisgreen6930
I love how Mat Pat is totally unfazed by Mickey Mouse entering his house in a flash of lightning.
  • @UltimatePota
When Mickey says “you might not like what you find at the end of the journey” , I can just think of a load of rights to movies in Mickey’s basement...
  • @ajwinberg
Usually Disney movies like this have been worked on for 3 to 5 years before they are actually released to theaters. It really is just a huge coincidence.
  • So that’s where Nemo was.... He was taken by Disney, and now we found him.
  • @Hexra_
Mickey just casually appeared on a window and sneaks up on MatPat and Mat isn't even surprised as if its just another thursday afternoon

everyone: "disney! no!" disney: "what?" everyone: "sorry, force of habit. pixar! no!" even if disney owns pixar, they're still a studio on their own, within the domains of disney, right? even more during the time nemo was made
  • I think another weird part is how most of this lawsuit seam to be more so against Disney than Pixar. I mean they were involved but Pixar would have been in charge of most of the stuff that could and would be copied. He was probably targeting the company with more money
  • I love that Mat doesn't even question Mickey appearing out of nowhere as if it was a casual occurrence

The insane Mickey Mouse Laugh is absolutely phenomenal

fun little fact on the steamboat willie thing. TECHNICALY that movie already enterd public domain do to a formal error on the copyright notice(there where two additonal names between Disney and the copyright statement which under the copyright act of 1909 would made it null) which would have made it public domain untill the 1998 act
