You know Bowling For Soup for "1985" and "Girls All The Bad Guys Want," but is there more to Bowling For Soup?

"And Katie had a baby, so i guess Tom's straight" might still be the ultimate 2000s pop punk lyric.
  • Bowling For Soup are the perfect example of not taking themselves too seriously, but taking their craft very seriously. It's always crazy, as someone from the UK, how much of an institution they are here as far as alternative music is concerned. Never the biggest band, but MASSIVELY consistent, in terms of both quality and crowd sizes. One of the most fun live bands I've ever seen. If anything, they put a lot of current bands to shame

They just played to a HUGE crowd at Download Festival this weekend, they also played an acoustic set which drew a big audience. Lots of love for BFS still here in the UK!
  • When I was a freshman in high school my band opened for these guys. My leader singer called them “bowling for fish” but they were good sports about it and introduced themselves as bowling for fish. They were a fun band , good times.
  • Fun fact: their singer sang a song for Sonic The Hedgehog. I think it was Unleashed

Drunk enough to dance is great front to back.

Hello, Corey from Patent Pending here. Love these dudes. They’re like uncles to us. Considering Rob from BFS 0:41 used to be in Patent Pending 😂
  • Prayers up for Burney! Hoping everything is ok, he makes a full recovery and rejoins the guys soon.

I was 15 years old when i went to live with my dad in Abilene Tx, in 96. He took me to a battle of the bands and they stuck out to me so much that I bought there CD at the show, and was a fan ever since. I was back out in Abilene in 99 when the owner of the pool hall my dad worked at opened up a rock club/bar in an unused room on the side of the building and they came thru again. The guys were cool as hell, signed my CDs. Ill never forget that.

I went on that Warped Tour cruise they had a couple years back and these dudes were the friendliest down to earth dudes. just hanging on the main deck and drinking with all the fans, while some other groups never left the luxury suites outside of when they had to play their sets.
  • Bowling for Soup also wrote the original theme for Jimmy Neutron that you can hear in the theatrical movie.

Bowling For Soup are currently playing to the largest crowds of their career

I loved "Girls All the Bad Guys Want" specifically because of the line "Her CD changer's full of singers that are mad at their dad". I was a mom of two kids with no nose ring at the time, but loved artists who were "mad at their dads". I crack up every time I hear that line.
  • They are one of those bands that I listened to thinking they could be my friends. The 99s and 00s were the best time of my life (I just turned 41) I will always love them no matter what.🥰

I always lovingly thought of Bowling For Soup as the more family friendly Bloodhound Gang haha. Absolutely amazing band!
  • They never answered the eternal-question. Are they bowling to acquire soup, or bowling on-behalf of soup?
  • You really hit the nail on the head here I think. What makes BFS so good is that they combine humour with being really quite earnest. No hiding behind irony etc. That comes through even more on some of the album tracks. Songs like BFFF or My Hometown are very funny, but they're also really quite wholesome and heartwarming.

They referenced this video at their show in Dublin, Ireland last night. I think they haven't watched it yet because he seemed to think it was a negative video purely because "fall" is in the title but tbf this video is not negative at all and I'm sure they would enjoy it
