The Fujifilm X-S10 was one of Chris and Jordan's favorite midrange cameras ever, so they were excited to check out the new X-S20! Nearly every feature has been upgraded, but does that justify the increased price? Chris and Jordan have answers!

  • Bug photographer here - those red fellas are Boxelder Bugs (technically true bugs and not beetles). That's a group of adults and nymphs clustered together there, probably feeding on the seeds from that little boxelder maple tree right above them!

I've been using X-S20 for two weeks now. Loving it so far! I agree with Chris, they need to make Auto Subject Detection available for every mode.

Love the atmosphere, the levity, the well-articulated opinions, the music.... I feel you guys got even better on Petapixel! Keep up the good work đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Love that so many of the images were with the 18-55. Its the package that a lot of us with limited budget would consider first up.

I upgraded from X-S10 to X-S20 because it resolves the main demerits on the former generation: battery life, auto focus and video capacity on 4K60&HDR. Now it can meets all my needs and I’m pretty satisfied with it!

As a current fujifilm users and an ex Sony shooter. Hell of a fight between this XS20 vs the A6700. I personally like the Fujifilm IBIS better than Sony. And the new fujifilm autofocus algorithm definitely makes fujifilm a more competitive brand.
  • Got it as an upgrade to my X-T3 for video. It's a wonderful camera so far. I was worried about having to cough up extra change for the XH2s but I'm glad the X-S20 came out.

This has nothing to do with the X-S20, but I recently stumbled across the Unsung Cameras of Yesteryear videos back on TSCTV and remembered how much i missed that series. It was so interesting and so much fun. I really hope you guys would consider reviving it!
  • I too am totally fine with the 26mp sensor and more mainstream control approach. Having rented the SX10, and seeing the new model’s improvements, this SX20 would be my point of entry into the Fuji system.
  • This is an amazing little camera. I work in a camera shop and many have switched their X100V orders over to the X-s20 as it was coming faster and met their needs. Definitely a great upgrade from the x-s10
  • I've had the X-S20 for two weeks and have used it for some paid work and I am really happy with my choice. I shoot the Canon R5 for most of my work but for some particular situations, where it's more sort of documentary photography, I rather use the X-S20 over the Canon R5. I'm not even considering switching to Fuji at all but this X-S20 is a great addition to my kit. I am pleased agree with Chris in his stills review of the camera.
  • It feels like APS-C is having a bit of a renaissance in 2023 after Full Frame seemed to be all the rage over the last few years. Seeing both a string of new APS-C bodies as well as a bunch of new APS-C lenses across multiple mounts is really making me wonder if I still want to lug around my A7IV setup. Now we need Canon to open their mount to third parties so that there’s more competition on the market.
  • Nice job! Now we need a full comparison vs the a6700 on video. Dynamic range, rolling shutter, low light and autofocus.
  • @xWood4000
I look forward to the R7, XS-20 and a6700 review
  • I'm an X-S10 lover, and this looks like a worthy upgrade. I agree with the sentiment that the new processor and new battery are more important upgrades in this camera than the new sensor would have been. The subject detection modes, animal eye detection, autofocus improvements, new video modes, and the several other minor features are huge steps over the X-S10. I'm not going to run out and buy one today, but when the body inevitably goes on sale, you better believe I'm picking one up. Overall, it's great to see Fuji invested in the X-S line.

As a long distance backpacker, this review would have made me seriously consider the X-s20 instead of my X-T4. I feel like my X-T4 is outright overkill for most of my applications. This camera, with the smaller and lighter body, and an amazing hybrid camera, would be an amazing choice. However my X-T4 is the greatest camera I have ever used. Great review! Thanks yall!
  • @nsbhagwat
You guys need to compare auto focus between R7, S20, and 6700. That should be a cracker with Jordan doing the S runs.
  • @outofabook
I don't know how long I've been watching you guys - 13 years maybe? So glad Chris and Jordan are still doing their thing and even continuing to get better every year.
