Strides are short accelerations done after an easy run or before a race or workout. They help improve coordination, general athleticism, foot speed, turnover, and act as a cool-down after running.

They're also fundamental; you'll find middle schoolers, senior citizens, elite runners and everyone in between running strides! In this video, run strides with Jason as he takes you on a team-time tour of post-run strides.

I wish a video like this existed when I first started running! Awesome idea, thanks for this.

I've watched a few of your videos on strides in the past and I think this one is by far the best you've done, it really gives a good sense of how to go about running them.
  • I'm 43 and just this year I was getting into running. Found this video to be super helpful. Thank you so much for doing this. I learned a lot. 👏👏👏👏👏

Jason this video is a great example of what "running strides" mean. It has made it clearer for me and now I know what to do. Thank you. 👍
  • Thank you for making this video Jason. As a coach to many distance athletes (from 5km to ultra marathon), I prescribe strides to all of my athletes. They are the bread and butter of endurance training.
  • Thanks Jason. Strides have always confused me, not anymore. Clear and concise explanation.

Thanks for this video. I learned that I've probably been doing my strides a bit too hard. Will keep it more at one mile pace top speed for my distance goals.
  • @michepriest
This was really helpful. It took me awhile to find a video that actually explained what strides are. Most just said why you should do them
  • Im new to taking running seriously, learning how to train. However, oh my word loads of terminology is thrown around like everyone should know what it is/means/looks like. no idea what a stride was and internet articles are filled with filler and dont really explain it, with poor examples. This video is great, straight to the point, see you doing them, explains it well, has advice. perfect. great job

This video is super helpful! Thanks! I think I've been running my strides to fast, which is probably why I avoid them after most runs. It's a bit difficult to gauge your effort without seeing your legs, but I'm pretty sure I've been sprinting my strides at 400m pace, which seems crazy now that I've watched this.

Learned quite a bit from your videos. Thanks for making such informative content!
  • Good video. I've been doing them, but making them harder than they have to be. Have them planned for tomorrow and will change it up. Thanks for the video.
  • @stever1514
wow seeing it demonstrated is so different than reading about it. Nice video.
  • @Shevock
Nice video. I do them on my bicycling/xt day. Like brick strides or something.
