🇻🇳 Greetings from Saigon, Vietnam! Having lived and traveled in China for 2 years, gone to school in China, and learned Chinese for the better part of the last 10 years, I couldn't pass up the chance to visit Chinatown down here on my trip in Saigon. I speak Mandarin, which is the main language spoken in mainland China. The majority of people who live in Chinatown's around the world tend to speak Cantonese, the language spoken in Hong Kong and also some southeastern provinces of China, rather than Mandarin. As such, I didn't think I'd get the chance to try out my Mandarin. All I can say is I was pleasantly surprised! So join me, and let's check out Saigon's Chinatown.

Thanks to Max for joining me. Subscribe to him here:    / @macoi24

  • Hope you guys enjoyed the video! Here's the address for the dimsum. Go support the sweet lady and her family when you come to Cho Lon in Saigon!
  • I swear, all Grandma’s are like that. Sweet, welcoming, cooks food and offers. I miss mine, RIP
  • You pronounce Vietnamese name like how a Vietnamese would pronounce it, even in the middle of English sentences. I really respect that. Not a lot of people bother to pronounce foreign names correctly, and usually just "localize" the name. Mad respect man, mad respect.
  • @XShaneX19
"I wanna buy this cake please" "Sure, would you like to meet my daugther too?"
  • If traveling has taught me anything, it's that if you make effort to learn a language the locals will love you for it. Amazing language skills dude! Now I'm hungry for noodles! :D
  • As a Chinese learning Vietnamese, I have to say that your accents of both languages are so darn good! Amazing! 👍👍👍
  • I worked with Vietnamese here in San Diego, California and when you speak Vietnamese you sound identical to them. Your accent is really good, and I can't believe you also speak Chinese! You must have an incredible ability to master difficult languages.
  • Im a Vietnamese Australian - I AM SO AMAZED BY YOU GUYS!!! Your accent, your manners, the way you know how to address your elders. Wow!
  • A Fascinating video. I have travelled a lot and once you get past the language barrier you realise that people are the same all over the world. Politicians, religions and racists try to divide us but we are not different.
Thật sự Cris rất có thiên phú ngôn ngữ 👏👏
  • Thank you for the tour. I was in Sigon several times during the war. 1967-68 It is very different now. So much beauty now. Be Safe and Well.
  • You speak surprisingly perfect northern accent! It's the exact way of speaking we use when we order food, ask for something and "mời" prior to the meals. Thanks for the video!
  • The venerable lady was delightfully talkative and so sincere. She has such pride in her heritage and herself. A very joyful person.
  • Hi Chaps , I found this video absolutely fascinating. The people who you met were amazing and so kind. Gives us hope that most people are pretty cool, wherever you go in the World. Thank you so much, Mark.
  • That's how yoy guys would definitely feel about Vietnamese and she is the true representative of our hospitality. So proud of how she treat you both and I think you all are deserve it. Rock on Chris, explore more and I am sure that you gonna fall in love with our beautiful country! Peace!🤟
  • I love that you talked to the lady while she is cooking And dint want you and Max to leave so soon! When I was younger and visited my friend's house. I always went to the kitchen and talk to her mum watching her cooking and chatting to her. They really like you when you do that, I don't know why. But it was lovely to talk and learn cooking from them!
  • Even when I've just eaten dinner, I get hungry watching you eat noodles 🍜. I smile all the way through when you interview people... Languages are the road to freedom and peace.
  • Why have I only just found these videos ? Really interesting stuff, the 2 guys are living the best life and its nice to see the interaction with the locals, and the food
