Does anyone else experience neck stiffness/pain when they get or before getting a migraine?

Since I didn't see anyone summarize the video: 1) For at least a month/4 weeks eliminate all animal products. I.e. dairy, meat, eggs 2) If you still have migraines eliminate these dozen foods: dairy, chocolate, citrus, eggs, meat, nuts, tomatoes, onions, corn, apples, and bananas 3) Take all those foods out in addition to being vegan, now bring in foods one at a time. Have 4 or 5 of that food in a day. If that food doesn't trigger a migraine then it's safe. Do this again and again, one food every 2 days in a generous quantity 4) If you get a migraine take that food out and move onto the next one 5) Avoid consuming caffeine every day Personally I Know that nuts and bananas are BIG triggers for me. So is raspberries, deli meat, and food dyes

My trigger foods are instant noodles( tastemakers containing MSG), cheesy foods, caffeinated products, chocolates. I have entirely eliminated then from my diet . I have one table spoon of ginger juice in the morning as soon as I wake up, followed by 5-6 soaked peeled almonds. This has provided me relief from migraines.

We need to stop calling migraine a headache. It's neurological and many times the head doesnt hurt at all.
  • I started keto way of eating and intermittent fasting and went 14 months without a migraine. Longest time since I was 12. Worked for most I’ve talked to as well. Sugar and carbs are biggest triggers

My migraines are a reaction to Tyrosine buildup - especially in fruit. Over ripe or dried fruit will cause a migraine after 8-10 hours after eating. I can eat other foods that have Tyrosine if they don't have a high sugar content. Ice packs and ibuprofen help a lot. When I have a bad reaction it can last 16 hours or more. Cooking will not alter the Tyrosine. I buy fresh frozen fruit, or I freeze very fresh fruit. That reduces the buildup. It used to confuse me. One day I could eat bananas and another day they caused a migraine. Finally I realized it depended on how fresh it was. I hope this helps someone. It seems like an obscure migraine trigger. A food diary is essential - don't give up

I have suffered with migraines for thirty years. I have been given a whole load of medications with a whole load of side effects. During the past year, I have a migraine every day. I work from home, so I see a client, go to bed, get up for the next client, go to bed again. I was not a fan of excluding any good group, so as last desperate attempt I tried the vegan diet last week. I have not had a migraine since. 😆😆☺Thank you somuch Dr Barnard. This has given me my life back

A couple years ago, my neurologist suggested an elimination diet (I was getting 15+ per month usually around 2-3pm onset with no relief from medications); I had never considered diet before that, but I found a correlation between meats and migraines when I started the food log, which made sense since I usually ate oats/fruit for breakfast but had chicken for lunch, so my reaction was about 2-3 hours after eating any meat. My neurologist also ordered a CGM, so I started my journey in WFPB diet 18 months ago and I haven't had a single migraine since! I stumbled upon this podcast just looking through YT about 6 months ago, so I hope my story will inspire others with migraine. Unfortunately grains were a big part of my problems, and there's lot of research on migraines and glucose or insulin sensitivity issues.
  • I've had a migraine for 8 days now variates in intensity but it is now both a pre and post menstrual migraine. I also get migraines at other times of the month. My diet consists of both healthy and unhealthy foods and I work 60 hours a week so it's so difficult for me to take the time to take things out of my diet and see what might be causing them. My heart goes out to all of my fellow migraine sufferers... no one is alone in this. This video was very informative and educational on this subject!

I've been vegan for a month and a half, I haven't had a headache in a day. When I ate meat and dairy I had pain weekly. This is the best change for me, I hate headaches. I can't explain why it doesn't hurt anymore and I didn't expect it .

I’m one of those who started getting migraines with aura very young, at six or seven. Over the years I had increasingly weirder auras. I’ve had vestibular migraine and aphasia during aura as well as loss of feeling on one side, even my teeth will go numb. Since eating whole foods plant based, I rarely have migraines anymore. So grateful for relief that does not involve more medications.
  • @nicolaonstarch
I eliminated my weekly migraines switching from standard vegan diet to a very low fat whole foods plant based vegan diet and have had maybe one migraine in the last six months!
  • @HeySenthil
Suffered from migraines for 17 years. Going whole plant based has helped in the last two months. 1) I also increased water intake. 2) Going to bed early. 3) neck exercise. (My neck get so tight when I have migraine) 4) Pumpkin and sunflower seeds help (May be I deplete magnesium quickly)
  • Thank you so much for doing these videos, they’re really helping me to deal with my PCOS and migraines! 🙏

I have had migraines since I was a teenager. I accidentally found out to take benedryl when I had one because I thought I was allergic to a food I ate. It worked right away by taking away the aching in my head, but of course I must sleep afterwards. The migraine takes a lot of my energy and the benedryl makes me sleepy. It’s the only thing that helps me. I learned a lot from this, thank you!

I used to always cry myself to sleep, it hurts so much is bang my head hoping it will go away 😩

Dear perimenopause women with migraines. In our case it's almost always estrogen dominance and temporary histamine intollerance as direct culprits. I'm almost 24hrs into migraine and it's also my second day of period which I got on 14th day of the cycle. Since I sometimes have no migraines for a few months and then have them monthly or even more frequently I realised there are a few main triggers that are not food related that initiate domino effect we later pin on foods we ate. These are stress, high cortisol and insomnia. If I get lots of these, I know I'm done regardless of what I eat. It's cliche, I know, but stress is a silent killer indeed. I wish my migraines lasted a day but they're usually 2 sometimes 3 day long. On the second day you don't want to live any more.
