Simon's Seat - Up above Wharfedale, from Bolton Abbey and back again!

2022-04-09に共有
Through snow and sunshine, a challenging walk rising up from the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey. It's up all the way - about 1,300 feet in total - rising steadily through the stunning Valley of Desolation, then some strenuous long climbs up across the moors to Simon's Seat. This is an outcrop of rocky formations which affords vast views of the surrounding hills and dales.

There is good car parking at the Riverside Car Park on the Bolton Abbey Estate. At the time of uploading it was £12.50 to park all day; relatively expensive, but there are no further admission charges if you want to visit the priory ruins or church. There were good toilets at the Cavendish Pavilion, plus large café and gift shop. But, as always, check current opening times and arrangements.
