  • Lisiecki is a high level pianist. Should be placed among the greatest!!

Bravo, Bravissimo!
  • Brilliant pianist, getting hotter and better with every bar as the concert progresses.
  • I find Jan Lisieckis playing very nuanced, and he uses the diminuendos to get a greater dynamic feeling in this music. Especially in tne slower parts I have never heard such a nice expression of this music. I highly appreciate his playing. BRAVO!

Utterly sublime, the music, the orchestra and that incredible young pianist. How fortunate we are to be able to share this experience in our own homes. Thank you so much.

While still a young man, Edvard Grieg enjoyed spending time in Denmark. In fragile health, he lived there with more tranquility and a free state of mind to compose and wander as he pleased. The Concerto begins with a quasi-piano monologue on the Allegro molto moderato. Useless of tender the ear, this introduction is in everyone's memory, in the popular unconscious, one of the most famous themes in the world. The violins discreetly surround the undulations of the piano and rise to the main syncopation worked to perfection by the pianist. In this sonata we hear the gentle song of the rivers arriving quietly in the waters of the fjord, we can distinguish the large conifers lining the coast, their proud stature made to resist the most violent elements. A landscape revealing all the magic of Norway, whose traditional accents in second and then descending third are respected. Expertly executed, we sometimes touch on dissonance but never reach it. The woodwinds and brass take over and bring the melody to its point of equilibrium. The soloist, as usual, frees himself from certain portions while brilliantly restoring the magic of the work, deserving his status as a great interpreter of romanticism. The Allegro then begins in an equally passionate manner. At times, we are very close to the themes of Beethoven or Brahms, the Scandinavian beauty in no way resembles that of great Germany. More discretion, of restraint, the piano cautiously leads the progressive rise of the woodwinds, then leads to a superb variation of the first theme. Although solitary, the piano is joined by the horns in an overflowing lyricism. We feel the underlying orchestra, close to explosion at times, but in complete control. It leads without transition to the incandescent theme of the Allegro moderato molto e marcato, phenomenally evocative and which clearly announces the rest of the composer's prestigious career. Magnificent in immaculate light, the unleashing of the symphonic unfolds, leaves the virtuoso portions at the piano then continues with astonishing modernity the energetic themes. The flute calms the Viking ardor in an instant to tend towards a dreamlike image, then the piano takes over in a beautifully held Andante. The criticism imposes herself. It is certainly a youthful piece but above all it is genius in its purest form, and only admiration is appropriate here. This concerto by Edvard Grieg is a major work of the 19th century. What magnificent music! Lucien
