This is beyond any doubt, the only film to portray this battle accurately and with an intelligent approach overall. Although the Hoplite helmets are not accurate here, this film is well written and an attempt was made to show how this battle unfolded and how these brave Men were betrayed. Thank GOD, no CG here, this film was made before film making took a nose-dive into the dumpster...........

Both "300" movies are great. This one is historically accurate(for a movie), while the other one is Bollywood-style action.

You forgot the 700 Thespian soldiers that stayed with the Spartans to fight. 7000 Greeks came, but 1000 stayed behind to fight a last stand

Love this movie when I saw it a kid, made VHS copies of it later, wore them out now have 2 CD of it. I also read the history from Greek historian Herodotus about the battle. I think I have all the words in memory of the cast. "300 men to stand against the whole of Asia, no 301 and all Spartans"

300 Spartans bravely fought off invaded Persia army but sadly now they had to nothing due to (EU’s immigrant policy) while millions of Arab invaded to seeking asylum.

Those are Chalcidian and Attic helmets. The Corinthian helmet fell out of use by this time in Greece. The Italo-Corinthian helmet was in use still, but mostly in the Italian peninsula.

0:53 Recycled Roman uniforms? Just watched this on DVD excellent film. I wasn't aware that the 300 Spartans were the kings personal bodyguard. It explains the reason why the rest of the army couldn't be sent to the pass right away too. Then the 300 were betrayed. It also mentions the 700 Thespians who fought and died with the Spartans. It mentions loads of facts the film 300 didn't..
