Days 9-10 | Dermatologist gave me a prednisone shot

Day 9: Although I did not apply any of the cream, I did continue using aquaphor; I experienced nausea most of the day and evening.

Day 10: I see my dermatologist and get a prednisone shot for relief of swelling and itching. She was well pleased with my reaction. If I decide to treat my neck and chest area, I will wait until winter. I now have a better idea of what to expect, and hope this also helps anyone else who may have to do this too.

#fluorouracil #actinickertosis #calcipotriene

I have had squamous cell skin cancer and Mohs surgery twice. My last visit to my dermatologist I was diagnosed with actinic keratosis. I was prescribed a chemotherapy compound cream of fluorouracil and calcipotriene. After searching youtube, I only found horrific videos from users who used fluorouracil to treat AK. There treatments were long and painful, but I’m told this new advanced duo cream will be faster and less invasive. I will continue to document and upload videos as I progress through this treatment. I will see my dermatologist on Day 10 to determine if I can stop or continue more days. (You can find all the videos in my “skin cancer” playlist:    • Skin Cancer  )

Thank you for the videos. I have watched several times to see if things are “normal”. I am on day four of the flourouracil and calcipotriene treatment. Thanks for sharing your experience!
  • Thank you so much for posting the entire experience. This helped me know what amount of time I will need and the fact that this will auteur my activities, I won’t be able to put a helmet on. Looks like some real down time. Your the best
  • Thank you for sharing!! I start my 5 day today. I am 71 and the price we pay for being too uncareful when we are young. Never aware of it though till now. Take care!!
  • Thank you for sharing! I am on day nine. I think my reaction has been even more severe than yours. Common sense is telling me I should stop and your video has helped in that decision greatly. I am supposed to do 2x daily for 14 days which seems WAY TOO LONG for the pain and conditions I am “facing” after 8 days! (Pardon the Pun!)

Thank you for posting this video. I did 5.5 days flu-Cal, I am now at day 8 and feeling woozy. I wouldn’t have connected the dots if not for your video. My face is burning, can’t wait for it to heal!!
  • Your skin looks a lot better. It shouldn't be too long before you are all healed up. You sound dehydrated. Your gonna be back to normal soon.

I finished up with the cream treatment on Monday 10/10/22. I have had 4 melanoma cancers removed over the last 17 years, still alive at 73. I can attest to the fact that this is a painful, itchy, and unpleasant treatment. As of today, I am still red and burning after 3 days of not applying the cream. The aquafor does help. Probably will not do this again.

You are on your way to healing. I have not heard about a prednisones shot. Since I wear a CPAP mask at night for sleep apnea the burn cream I mentioned really came in handy at night. He wasn’t hundred percent but it did help me get some sleep. Just wanted to mention that for others that go through this. Especially since it had lidocaine in it. All the best from here forward, Lori

I used the stuff with the calciptrine in it. I live in Hawaii, had to order it from the mainland. My dermatologist said I was supposed to use it for 5 days twice a day. I did experience nausea But the worst of it is the pain..... Still not over yet
