Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign. Apes are the dominant species living harmoniously with one another and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape will undertake a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Starring Freya Allan, William H. Macy, Dichen Lachman, Kevin Durand, Owen Teague, Peter Macon, and Travis Jeffery.

A charismatic leader twisting the words of a historical idol for their own benefit. Sounds very human.

"What a wonderful day!" This line is already iconic

Funny how Proximus took one of Caesar’s laws to heart ”Apes Together Strong” but not his most important law, ”Ape Not Kill Ape.”

I love how Caesar is now basically like ”Ape Jesus”

So amazing how a window frame became the symbol of the Ape religion after 300 years.

An instant parallel I saw was Proximus walking up and not acknowledging anyone. Caesar ALWAYS made sure to acknowledge & touch each ape whenever he walked thru the masses. Very telling

Ive started off every shift at my job by shouting “WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!” to the rest of my department ever since I’ve seen this

That symbol of Cesar’s old window being remembered is a very nice touch
  • I like how Proximus' salute is the opposite of Caesar's. Instead of the palm up "asking for permission" gesture, they all point their palms down, like they're asking him to guide them.
  • The voice actor who voices Proximus is absolutely fantastic. The way he delivers his lines is just...chef's kiss.

To see Proximus twist and use Caesar's words, which were meant for good, for his own gain and have apes blindly follow him like some religious or cult figure is just disgusting. I'm already more intrigued to learn more of him. Edit: Saw it yesterday as of writing this and I loved the film. The little we knew of Proximus definitely made me curious.

I love how Noa is like "is this supposed to be a king?"

“What a wonderful day” will be quoted by a lot of people on the internet from now on.
  • @UnfoundFilms
Love how this series turned bonobos from the most peaceful apes into absolute psychopaths
  • I knew he wouldn’t have lived to see it, but I would love to see how Caesar would react seeing how developed and literate the apes become. He’d at least tear up.
  • @Freeden
I hope Kevin Durand gets the recognition he deserves for this role.

I love the symbolism of the protagonist named Noa(h) walking towards a giant ark. And the lead ape being named Proximus Caesar (proxy meaning to act in substitute of someone else.)
