Skyrim is a land in turmoil at the onset of The Elder Scrolls 5 as an uprising led by Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak seeks to break Skyrim free of rule from the Septim Empire. The Stormcloak cause is a controversial one, some see them as righteous liberators, restoring freedom to Skyrim - While others view them has a group of disorganized bandits with little legitimacy. However you see them, the Stormcloaks and their leader, Ulfric Stormcloak, are an iconic and influential force in the game. And like everything else in Skyrim Special Edition, there's quite a few Easter Eggs, tiny details and hidden facts surrounding them. So today we'll be taking a look at five things you (probably) didn't know about the Stormcloaks of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

I'm sorry for being late, the troll on the 7,000 steps to High Hrothgar was being a pain in the ass again.

“For the love of Talos, shut up, and let’s get this over with.” Plot twist: Akatosh intended for him to be Dragonborn, but went to the block first, and Akatosh said, “Damn, I guess that one dressed in rags will do.”
  • One of the little details I found. When you come back from killing an ice wraith, Galmar will say "I owe Ulfric a drink" which makes me think while Galmar was skeptical, Ulfric always trusted you, cause you survived the dragon attack alongside him at Helgen.

You kill the dragon that literally wants to eat the world, a guy that is also a dragonborn and is gaining power in Apocrypha and thousands of years old powerful vampire lord. You are the archmage of the college of Winterhold, leader of thieves guild and the dark brotherhood and the harbinger of Companions. Ulfric and Galmar: "Go kiLL IcE WraITh tO sEE if YOu ArE WorThY. AlsO BRiNg ToOthS"

6th fact: What does Ulfric wear when it's raining? His Stormcloak.
  • Personally, I feel as though the stormcloak plans to invade the summerset isles heavily would revolve around you, the dragonborn. Since you were an extremely powerful asset to winning the civil war, galmar and ulfric likely factored you in as a "secret weapon" of sorts, making their plans much more feasible.

One theory I heard about the Ice Wraith quest is that it's because Nords are 50% resistant to Frost damage. In other words, the test to join the Stormcloaks is one where non-Nords are at a disadvantage.

Here’s a free bonus fact on stormcloaks. If you play as one of the two beasts races, stormcloak aligned guards will always call you a slur when referring to your race, while empire aligned guards will call you by your actual race.

I suppose it's safe to presume that Elder Scrolls 6 is going to feature some conflict with the Aldmeri.
  • @isaac_aren
Ulfric never declared himself High King. His followers do, but he himself is quite adament about allowing the moot to decide

Fact 2; Theres actually a fetch quest from the college of Winterhold that you deliver enchanted weapons to people into Windhelm...but none of them are nord ;)
  • @chriscormac231
10:20 killing an ice wraith is a right of passage for the passage from a boy to a man in nord tradition, so he expects solders to follow nordic customs of manhood
  • @Apocrypha92
Last time I was this early Talos was a human known as Tiber Septim.

Realistically speaking, the Stormcloaks with the Dragonborn on their side would certainly present a threat to the Thalmor
  • @EddyK2411
People often doubt that the stormcloaks could defeat the thalmor at home, but they usually forget that if the stormcloaks win its because they have the Dragonborn, literally the most powerful being on the planet. LDB flies in riding paarthurnax and bending will on a bunch of other dragons and you wouldn’t even need an army.
  • Mede Dynasty: Skyrim is still part of the Empire Stormcloaks: Skyrim belongs to the Nords Dragonborn: How about all of you belong to me? (Looks at the Thalmor) And I mean all of you. Thalmor: 👀
  • @valeclaw1697
The Stormcloak ice wraith quest has a bit of a lore background. In the explorers guide to Skyrim, I think the 2nd edition, it said the coming of age ritual in the old holds was hunting ice wraiths.
  • @tyledon1395
I think that launching an assault against the thalmor, Ulfric anticipates other provinces like Hamerfell to join in the fight, since they hate them just as much if not more then the Nords
  • @morrigankasa570
Also in some cultures the Bear was considered the king of the forest and one of the most dangerous creatures ever. So dangerous that you hardly dare to speak it's name.
