Vitamin F helps to decrease hyperpigmentation and is one of the most important ingredients when looking for a moisturizer. In this video, we will review the best moisturizers for hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

You want to use a moisturizer rich in Vitamin F aka Linoleic acid & Alpha-Linolenic Acid when you are trying to correct hyperpigmentation because Vitamin F has pigment reduction abilities, increases cell turn over rate, is anti-inflammatory, increases skin barrier health, and decreases transepidermal water loss (TEWL)

Moisturizer choice is super important because it can affect product penetration, efficacy, and side effects of the treatment product.

In the context of hyperpigmentation Fatty acids have effects on tyrosinase. Unsaturated fatty acids inhibit tyrosinase activity and can help fight hyperpigmentation.

Here are a few of my favorite moisturizers rich in Vit F:

Light Moisturizers:

Medium Moisturizers:

Heavy Moisturizers:

Naturium plant rich Ceramide shop-links.co/1729507816017345541

Oils:

Ghosts Democracy shop-links.co/1729507806850877558

The Ordinary Vit F shop-links.co/1729507759530392719

The easiest way to identify if a moisturizer is rich in Vitamin F is to look for formulas that specifically advertise omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid content, such as Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex moisturizer, $35, Biossance Squalane + Omega repair cream, $58 or Drunk Elephants F-Balm- $52

Of note plant, nut, and seed oils with high unsaturated fatty acid concentrations work as well. Sunflower, safflower, evening primrose, rose-hip seed, and flaxseed oils all have particularly high concentrations of linoleic (omega-6) and linolenic (omega-3) acids.
