On this episode of Street You Grew Up On, Kerry is joined by the talented actress, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate, Taraji P. Henson. Hailing from the Southeast Side of Washington D.C, the two look back on her life growing up in an inner city where, despite any issues that may have plagued her community, she was raised in a loving and happy environment that encouraged her imagination to be anything she wanted to be. That curiosity not only led her into acting, but also into Black hair care, as well as Black mental health awareness. She now has her own hair care line TPH by TARAJI in stores at Walmart and a non-profit organization called the Brois Lawrence Henson Foundation that’s dedicated to creating innovative healing approaches in Black communities.

We are so excited to be partnering with Walmart’s Black and Unlimited for this very special episode of Street You Grew Up On. I will forever love Taraji, a true queen. She should have gotten her flowers on Hidden Figures. Also what she is doing for mental health is not appreciated enough.
  • Taraji please stay walking in your truth. Closed doors only mean they weren’t meant for you. You’re an amazing brilliant black woman. Strong just as God made you. Your life will stay full of opportunities and success. Count on it.❤

Great conversation ladies, Please pay these ladies what they are worth in future movies and tv shows. Taraji is real and she is down to earth and that us rare in a actor. Do no loose her for craziness. It is sad to know that telling the truth can hurt you.
  • Ms Henson. She should get paid more. She is a great great actress and have been in many wonderful movies.
