A few quick notes, just for people making their cursed weapons =] (Also, you mentioned the 2H spear will boost your spells a ton, but the 2H bug works on spears, so while the int/mnd on the status sheet goes up, it doesn't boost your magic attack unless you're using a 1H cursed weapon with an offhand.) UNSNAPPED CURSED WEAPONS With zero weight, you can use cursed weapons even before snapping them for good effect. Toss a cursed dagger in the offhand of a caster and watch them get 14% chance to avoid all attacks for zero weight. For some casters, it's the only way to get 14% parry. For a princess or lord, you could toss the 1H cursed sword in the offhand for 21% chance to parry. If you're doing the AI thing (zombie or otherwise), you'll probably prefer an unimbued cursed dagger over an imbued one since it keeps the AI from sending old men in dresses to knife fight dragons. FLAMECREST I do think it's worth mentioning the flamecrest (100% drop from Blackmoor) since a lot of people have it before making their first cursed weapon. Its weight is negative, so if you put it on a character and then snap them, you'll get a lower RT cost per attack on the weapon (and get your flamecrest back after snapping). It's not so big a deal that you will want to wait to get it before snapping, but if you have it, you won't lose it. DAMAGE TYPE There are charts out there about what weapons can get what damage types, but.... it's worth mentioning that you can do some neat things here. Whips are crushing, right? That sucks for the main whip-using class, Princess, who probably wants Luminant Gauntlets for free haste... but those don't provide crushing defense, only slashing. What's a princess to do? Snap a warrior to get a slashing type whip. Now, suddenly, your defenses go way, way, way up in PotD gear. You can get crushing spears, too, which helps earlier on. Also, while classes do have RT bonuses/penalties, so a dragoon is faster than a warrior, dragoons will never snap to anti-human, while a warrior will at the cost of about 2 RT on a weapon. Since all of CODA 4 is humans, that 2 RT cost is worth it for a bonus. SNAPDRAGON FODDER By the time you have Iuria, you also have access to tons of free classes with the highest stat distribution. Hop into San bronsa, go up two floors, and steal the angel. Anchor back and immediately re-enter. You can grab as many angels as you want, and they have the highest stat growths in the game. And they've been levelled as an angel from lv 1, so they're just as good as if you bought a lv 1, skeleton/ascended it to angel, and levelled it yourself. Vartans are also great. Angels are holy, so you'll need to charm them after class changing. Hawkmen in Pharompa spawn at your deployed level, so with all lv 5 characters, you can get a lv 5 hawkman. Just zombify them after recruiting so they don't level up from the win (I forget if retreats get exp?). You can change any hawkman to the dark element by using a Ring of the Dead on them. I think free angels are usually easier and a lot faster, but vartans do have great stats. OGRE BLADE...? If you use an Ogre Blade to make a generic have 999 int and mind, it'll get a 99% elemental bonus. And, if it isn't two handed (stressing this again), it'll give you something like 255 int and mind to the wielder. If you're doing this, just... think long and hard before you snap a 999int/mnd ogre bladed character into a 2H weapon. But if you're struggling with Golyat 3, ogre blades require only 8 fast levels per acquisition, so you could give your characters 1H cursed weapons to help out. I haven't done this, but this does feel like an easy way to get through that title if someone is stuck. RELICS vs. CURSED WEAPONS I'm not sure it was fair to take the absolute worst Supple Whip relic that has dropped in the history of the game and compare it to a cursed weapon =] A decent supple whip will offer 31% crushing and 30% anti-human or more and also curse them, basically giving everyone who attacks that target next a free crit card while lowering their autoskill procs and own ability to crit or parry. All three relic whips are great. But I'm not exactly disagreeing with you here, as I run a cursed slashing whip on my princess, even though those tend to be 19% slash, 19% holy, 19% anti-human. That speed boost and swapping your defense type are both huge. Even compared to a maxed Rose Whip, I use the out-of-the-box, lackluster cursed whip instead. But it's not always so clear. ELEMENT While your character's element matching a finisher offers a good boost, and if your character's element matches your weapon's element, you get a super tiny boost, I think the real bonus here is in choosing a weapon type that'll let your character attack the element he's normally weakest to. Sure, lightning element dragoon with the lightning finisher boosts it, that's fine. As long as you never fight a ground person. But if your cursed spear is air, if you fight a ground person, you'll attack like you're air. Since relics/basic cursed weapons are comparable, it can be handy to ask "what can't relics do?" and then fill in the gap. Letting a character do bonus damage to 80% of other elemental types thanks to weapons/personal/finisher/spell elements is usually handy. And for 1H caster weapons, when you strike an enemy with a spell that matches their weakness, it'll take the value of the weapon element (no matter the element) and apply the bonus damage to that spell. This makes ninja and rune fencer summons very neat once you get cursed weapons. MAXING CURSED WEAPONS vs. STAT CHARMS While the main challenge of the game won't let you use generics (so no ogre blade shenanigans), you may wonder if it's better to try to make a maxed curse weapon or to spend stat charms on the characters who need them. Since cursed weapons get a fraction of the stats the sacrificed unit has... you'll probably get more bang for your buck from stat charms. Obviously, farming 20 of each stat charm is pretty easy if you own a zombie octopus thanks to the AI setting. But if you reach CODA 4 and you're considering putting the stat charms into a cursed weapon sacrifice or a character who will show up in the battle, it's probably better to give archer Vyce 300 strength and dex or whip princess Catiua 300 int and mind, right?

Concise and effective tutorial. Excellent work TLM. 🧐 I shall strongly consider dabbling into the conversion of loyal units into the most powerful weapons in all of Valeria. 😈

Its really interesting how in this game, in order to reach the highest heights of obtainable power you need to basically become evil. Sacrificing a character to obtain the best weapons in the game is a fascinating commentary on the cost of such power. When i recruited Deneb as a Wicce (rather than as a Witch) and had to auction off nine dragons i found myself having a bizarre kind of imaginary guilt about sacrificing 9 semi-sentient dragons in order to get a better class for a specific character. Its odd but l think that i may pass on the cursed weapons...at least until i hit CODA 4 and exhaust all other options 😂

Questions: could you use special units for a cursed weapon, then world back to recruit them again and have then equip themselves as a weapon? What happens when you use a cursed weapon on a zombie or undead unit? Could we recruit higher lvl 50+ units from endgame to use as cursed weapons? If a winged unit is converted into a weapon, does the weapon give the new user flying?

Great vid! Idk how but I’d love to collab with you, excellent audio, visuals, and story telling. 10/10 subscribed

Placidusax served the army well the moment he was recruited. Not a single day in the field and already doing the army a great cause. I salute a great soldier this day. 😔👋 Jokes aside, this is quite useful.
  • @anchoredinword
How did you get to lv 50? I’m capped at 40, for a while, still haven’t beat pod
  • @karlharvey601
I'd snapdragon Ozma if i could, and Vice and Catiua.
  • And for cursed instrument?, this only can be used by Luria and she can't be used like sacrifice.
  • @rabbyd542
Doing my second playthrough (new game) and made sure to get the cursed weapons I need on my first go through potd. 12:42 the Heim soldiers: "I guess we're done here..."
