I wanted to Draw a Pretty Self-Portrait but I Failed. Here's why

Hello lovely people!
Another month passed and I finally finished my Head & face challenge for February. It was an intense one but also very gratifying to see how much progress I managed to make in only one month. When I started, I felt completely overwhelmed, not knowing where to start.
Honestly, Iโd been dreading this topic for months just because I know heads are a complex subject to draw. Realistic and proportionally correct ones at least. But this art challenge of mine has a habit of proving me wrong in my negative and insecure thoughts. Because I have to push through and face it anyways, which helps me see that it wasnโt so bad and scary after all hahaha.
I hope you enjoy this little philosophical video merged with my challenge and topic of the past month. Anatomy is next, which is even scarier because now Iโll have to start attaching limps to my heads and hands and all that.
But I shall persevere!! ๐

Before I go, a little reminder: Itโs your details, your asymmetry, your uneven proportions and so-called โโflawsโโ that make you beautiful. Not the glorified, painted faces society portrays. Those faces are altered, changed, fixed, and enhanced to fit into certain symmetrical and pained boxes to โplease the eye of the masses.โ
Trust me when I say: the majority of people donโt fit into these โโprettyโโ boxes. It was the most obvious thing to me after drawing face upon face upon face the last month. And they are NOT what make you beautiful.
The word pretty is just a shallow description of what the eyes see.
Beauty is you: your heart, your soul, your being and yes, your face - that tells the stories of your life.

What a fascinating commentary on the perception of beauty. Prettiness fades, and I find as I get older I find all those wrinkles and spots and imperfections in the skin to be truly beautiful.
