Robin Zander is the lead singer. Incredible vocals. You should react to Dream Police, The Flame, I want You to Want Me. They’ve got a great songwriter in Rick Nielsen, the guitarist.
  • @surlechapeau
You'll love their "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me" from their legendary (live) At Budokan album. Then follow with "California Man" and "The Flame", Cheap Trick were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Cheap Trick is the pride of Rockford, IL. I've seen them several times at concerts and festivals. Songs - "The Dream Police", "Surrender", "Gonna Raise Hell", " Clock Strikes Ten", "California Man", "The Flame", " Ain't That A Shame", "Voices" and more are worth a listen. Their "Live At Budokon" was a HUGE album in 1979/1980.

“The Flame” is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
  • @chadlockhart397
The iconic Cheap Trick songs are “Dream Police”, “Surrender”, and “I Want You to Want Me”(particularly live from Budokan). The latter two are my favorites of theirs.
  • @ThatColeGuy
"The flame" and "I want you to want me" are also good cheap trick songs.

Cheapest Trick were huge… especially in the late 70’s through the late 80’s. They still release music and tour. Cheap Trick are a loved band by almost everyone. They have a quirky ability to appeal to all genres of artists and people because of their infectious melodies.
  • Yes, Cheap Trick, finally! Rockford, IL's finest sons. This is from their "One On One" album from 1982 (their 7th). This band is full of characters; when they started in the mid 70's, at a time when bands were all wearing leather, denim and long hair, you had guitarist Rick Nielsen's colorful sweaters, caps with the flipped-up bills, and terminally surprised expressions, and drummer Bun E. Carlos's rumpled 3-piece suits; oh, and the amazing pipes of vocalist/ guitarist Robin Zander. This is a band that became popular in the US only AFTER they became popular overseas. They had released 3 albums in the late 70s that did OK (but not great) in the States. In Japan, however, these albums sold like crazy- to the point where Japanese rock fans referred to them as "The American Beatles". Their record company organized a tour of Japan, and the band was met with complete, screaming-fan adoration (that they were definitely not used to back home). On this tour, they recorded "At Budokan" (arguably one of the best live rock albums ever), which, ironically, became the album that broke them in the States, especially on the strength of this album's version of "I Want You To Want Me" (originally on their second album) and their jaw-dropping cover of Fats Domino's "Ain't That A Shame". If you're looking for their more streamlined, power-pop sound, check out "Southern Girls", "He's A Whore", "Clock Strikes Ten", "Surrender" or their cover of " California Man" by The Move; if you want to check their more symphonic side (which still kicks), give a listen to "Voices", "Dream Police", "The Flame", or their tongue-in-cheek cover of Elvis's "Don't Be Cruel". They still tour, and will also still occasionally pop in at some random bar in the Chicagoland/ Northern Illinois area to play material from one of their albums in its entirety. I've had more than one friend witness this; sadly, not me (although I did see them on New Year's Eve 1996/ 97; it was nuts). Excellent choice: I'm glad you enjoyed it; hopefully enough to go down this rabbit hole . . . :)

"I want you to want me", "The Flame" , "Surrender", and "Dream Police" are my favorite Cheap Trick songs. Didn't know this one.
  • @rogeroran2911
Cheap Trick started in 73, still around today. Yes they were huge in late 70’s, early 80’s and had their biggest hit, The Flame in late 80’s. Great music. Anything from their albums in their heyday are worth listening to.
  • This is Cheap Trick’s idea of a ballad. They’re considered a rock band in the purest sense of the term. To get a better handle on what they’re all about, you need to see some live concert footage, especially from the late ‘70’s.
  • @evillyn7895
I wish your introduction to Cheap Trick had been "Surrender", "Dream Police" or the live version of "I Want You To Want Me", I feel as if we all would've had even more fun. Rock on!
  • @imthemanntoo
Cheap Trick was huge. They broke out in the late 70s and through the 80s. They still tour extensively, today. Their album "Live at Budokan" was their breakthrough. Check out "I Want You To Want Me", then "Surrender". The singer, Robin Zander, is one of the best rock singers ever, IMO.
  • Love, love, LOVE Cheap Trick! Glad to see you all reacting to them. They are super talented and totally underrated. The guitar player, Rick Nielsen, plays a 5 neck guitar. You should check that out for sure!
  • @Jillyconjem
These guys were all over my high school bedroom walls. This is my favorite song by them. But. “Dream Police” and “Heaven Tonight” come close for me. “I Want You to Want Me” from the “Live at Budokan” (1979) album was huge for them. Then “Surrender”. I’d had tickets to see them when I was in high school, but I couldn’t get anyone to go with me. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Since then, I’ve seen them more than a few times. Great band. I love Robin Zander, the lead singer. Rick Nielsen, the wacky guitar genius, has an incredible collection of guitars. Currently, Rick’s son has taken over the drumming for the band. They’re worth looking into further. 💜💜💜

Saw Cheap Trick in concert in 1981. One of the best live acts of that era. Great concert.
  • @trjbrew
Love Cheap Trick, takes me back to high school! Please try the live version of "I want you to want me" its their most iconic song, and is loved by everyone who's heard it. "The Flame" was probably their biggest hit on the charts #1 for several weeks. They are a rock band that was at their height in the eighties.
  • @_Lisa_S_
One of my favorite bands of all time - Love Robin Zanders voice sooo much ! Hope you do more from them - so much to choose from !!
  • @daveygivens735
It's hard to pin them down. They weave in some 50s crooning, 60s pop, and they can definitely rock. Rick Nielsen, their lead, and a show by himself, used to joke that 'Cheap Trick was everyone's 4th favorite band'.
  • @bruinbro23
2021 album....In Another World is so great, 1974 to 2021, drummer retired and 2009 after the Beatles concerts, the guitar son took over. Now singer's youngest son, exactly like him, joined for the new album, and on here has their 2021 concerts with him singing, helping his Dad with the high ones, he's high 60, guitar is 70...still rocking!
