  • I finally tried the Elta MD one. It pills like crazy no matter if I use it by itself or with a moisturizer (letting it sink in). I prefer the Hero green one
  • The Versed sunscreen is now 75ml for the same $25 price point. Also, an excellent (near identical) dupe for the UV Elements is the DRMTLGY Physical Tinted SPF 44, which is $12 cheaper. That Universal Tinted SPF 46 is still my holy grail sunscreen though, so I'm glad you mentioned it!
  • I'm so happy that you mentioned Versed Sunscreen. It's my HG. It fits my skin tone perfectly just like I am wearing nothing on my face. The consistency is not too oily or too dry and the ingredients also don't break me out (I'm very acne prone).

I really love EltaMD UV Clear and the UV Physical. They look really pretty on and the UV Clear actually improves my skin.
  • I love the DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer, it's a fantastic SPF for the price. I really wanted to love the CeraVe but hotflashes had it melting down my face. So it was a no-go. It did have a nice tint which is helpful for those of us with darker skin tones. I your videos are so helpful and informative! ☺
  • Thank you for actually being mindful of darker skin tones challenges with getting the right sunscreen.
  • @tina_smt
Nothing beats Australian Gold if you can find a shade that will work you. It’s got antioxidants, super water resistant and matte. It’s 89ml for under $20. My go to for tinted sunscreen.
  • @TamiShey
Please do a video about Korean tinted moisturizers plz the one that benefits our skin ❤ I hate foundation nowadays I used to wear it but I don’t anymore after being a mom ❤
  • I have tried a lot of tinted sunscreens. Avene (horrible color), la roche posay (the ones from Europe, many colors to choose from), colorscience, and Skinbetter. I seem to like Colorscience so far because of shade availability. I am trying more budget friendly options to save some money. I have super sensitive skin, so I tried the 2 newest sunscreens from Vanicream. Just add a sqirt of your favorite foundation for color, and you are fine. You probably need to go a little darker on the foundation for better color, but honestly, these sunscreens are pricey. I want to save my money 💰 for better treatment products. I just want to mention that the Vanicream sunscreens are very moisturizing. I do not use an additional moisturizer. Just my treatment product. 😉
  • Omg. Thank you for explaining the the tint is made of iron oxides. I was confused bc I look on the ingredients of tinted sunscreen and I mostly see Zinc or another ingredient and that there was no iron oxide. Now I get it. Thank you for that. I subscribed today to your YouTube.
  • I like Neutrogena tinted sunscreen. It’s affordable and comes in different shades, and blends in perfectly to my medium skin tone. It’s very moist, which is great for my dry skin, but might not feel good on oily skin.
  • @LoveABun
Great video, thank you! Wish you would have demoed the Avene one. That one intrigued me! I like the thought of sunscreen as my foundation. I have used 3 of these: *CeraVe—a very nice, light, relatively inexpensive sunscreen. Even though it’s marketed as hydrating, my normal to slightly dry skin finds it a bit drying. I have to wear either Vanicream Daily Face Moisturizer or CeraVe PM Face Moisturizer under it. But I recommend anyone on a budget try this one. You really can’t beat the CeraVe brand for skincare science and effectiveness! *Elta MD Clear—this looks good, disappearing into skin. But I’m in my mid 60s and have found my skin having gotten quite sensitive, even with mineral sunscreens. I believe it’s important to apply sunscreen to the eyelids, but most sunscreens including mineral ones cause my eyelid skin—and sometimes my whole face—to sting. Also, my eyes will burn from the off gassing of the sunscreen, particularly chemical ones. I also think there’s an ingredient in mineral sunscreens that causes irritation. All this to say, the Clear causes me irritation so I had to give it up. *Elta MD Elements—love it! No irritation and the tint makes for a nice foundation. I just don’t love the price. I don’t believe we have to pay that much to get a sunscreen that provides good protection and is acceptable from a visual standpoint! There is another tinted sunscreen I use and recommend: “Australian Gold Botanical 50 Tinted Face”. It is actually a BB cream that comes in 3 colors—fair to light, medium to tan, rich to deep. Does not irritate my skin or eyes! The fair to light tint on my Caucasian skin essentially disappears. It is water resistant. 3 oz tube. Very affordable. The only thing I don’t like is washing it off because it’s somewhat thick. I use a cleansing balm followed by Vanicream Gentle Face Cleanser. Neutrogena has just come out with a tinted sunscreen that a lot of YTers are raving about including Dr. Dray. It’s a bit on the expensive side, so I haven’t tried it. For super sensitive skin, Vanicream’s face sunscreen can’t be beat for gentleness. It’s totally clear. It is, however, quite greasy and shiny and that greasiness lasts a good long while on your face. But it gives superb hydration and I can slather it on my eyelids with no issues. I just don’t think it would work well with makeup, but around the house it’s fine and feels good.
  • Love your videos! Do you happen to have any recommendations for tinted sunscreens for us pale girlies? For reference I’m fair neutral in tarte shape tape. I’ve sadly had no luck as the tinted sunscreens I’ve tried are too dark/orange. Would appreciate any recommendations.
  • Kokua Sun Care is my favorite, it goes on clear and easy without all the chemical junk. I like the clear application and how long the 3 oz sunscreen lasts is incredible. I guess because I don't need to reapply as often as it stays on even through sweat.
  • Thank you for this excellent video. Just to mention that La Roche-Posay tinted sunscreen is available in Canada, at least in Québec, though i find it a little too dark for my complexion.
  • I don't know why YT derms Love it!! The clear version pills and the tinted version driesmyskin out. Bothe Neutrogena and Elf have come out with Great tinted sunscreens (only SPF is only 30). Would try Versed but have dry skin. Didn't carefree Cerave when I tried it but my skin was oily then. May try again (Aussi Gold makes a pretty good one for normal/oily and is affordable)
  • This is a perfect video for me to watch. I am in the market for tinted sunscreen. Thank you for an educational video.
  • Hi Dr. Jeni, thank you for sharing all the information. Just one question what do you think about super goop sunscreen?
  • Right now my favorite tinted sunscreen is actually the morphe glowstunner both for the consistency and shade range. I was actually really disappointed with the la roche posay fluid sunscreens in both the tinted and non-tinted formulas in the US. The color for the tinted version was incredibly orange on my fitzpatrick type 2 skin. I felt it would have worked if I used it more as a "topper" sunscreen over a regular sunscreen, but I wanted to use it as my sole sunscreen. It made me look like an oompa loompa. Meanwhile the non-tinted version was very white cast-y and borderline felt greasy. I also noticed it moved around a lot even after giving it time to set and transferred on all my clothing
