I do want to correct one thing: "Protagonist" does not mean "good guy." Whether or not Remy is the good guy, he's still the protagonist, because he's the central character. To put this into perspective, Frisk is the main protagonist of Undertale regardless of the path that they take, including the Genocide path. On the opposite side of the coin, "Antagonist" does not mean "bad guy." Whether or not Skinner is the bad guy, he's still the antagonist, because he's the main conflict. To put this into perspective, if there was a story about someone who gets lost in a desert and has to figure out how to survive and get back home, the actual desert would be the main antagonist.

We are forgetting the times Skinner tries to get Linguini to fail by making him cook an impossible dish, or hiding the fact that the restaurant is rightfully Linguini's. He may not have destroyed the evidence, but he did hide it, and defy Gusteau's last wishes.

I agree with you on all of this except—didn’t he actually try to hide the fact that his employee was the true heir? I feel like a lawyer would have let Linguini know this anyway, but then again, this is a Disney movie so… lol

Everyone Watching: Figuring out Remy is the bad guy Me: Wait, Linguini had chin hair?!

Skiner is literally doing everything in his power to stop linguini from figuring out he is gustos son so he doesn't become head chef and skinner is literally using his dead friend gusto just to make money and the only reason he wanted to call the health inspector was to get everyone fired because they put him jobless.

Remy could’ve taught Linguini the technical sides of cooking (cutting, measuring, stirring, etc.), but he couldn’t teach how to sniff out rotten ingredients or understand what taste combinations work.

Protagonist just means “main character “ the antagonist is the person trying to stop the “protagonist”. The protagonist doesn’t need to be good, and the antagonist doesn’t need to be bad. Disney needs to learn this in my opinion.

I love Ratatouille, and now I work in the food industry in part because it inspired me as a kid ... and I hate to admit that you're right. This theory was really well done. Also I'm happy you self-called-out the Dory theory lol

Don’t forget that Gusteau’s CLOSES DOWN at the end of the movie. Remy is so selfish, he didn’t even care about the legacy of the chef he idolized.

Protagonist: the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. Antagonist: a person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary. Protagonist does not mean "hero." Antagonist does not mean "villain." It is entirely possible the protagonist can be the "villain," while the antagonist is the "hero."

I recently found out that rats are really awesome pets, if raised the right way anyway. Makes me wanna try to get one, but they're a ton of work that I just don't have time for.

So did we forget that Linguini is an adult who can make his own choices? He chose for Remy to control his movements and didn’t ask him for cooking lessons. Linguini also got all the credit for Remy’s work. You shouldn’t blame the rat for not telling a grown man how to live his life.

Honestly, another good theory for this is, were the spots on Linguini's head where the motion control spots in his mind were? Did Remy luck out, or realistically, was he honing in on the points that focus more on other parts of the body?

the chef actually did something very wrong, he knew Linguini was the actual son of Gusteau and was the true inheritor of the restaurant, but he hid Gusteau's lawyer's letter that stated that Linguini was the new owner
