Cohen the Barbarian was angry. Angry that he never died in battle, angry that the world had forgotten him, and angry that his knees were starting to play up in the cold.

He was also angry that his faithful mount had been gifted the ability of magical speech. The horse was insisting that they had made a wrong turn back at Slice.

He was also angry that the horse was probably right.

This was not how it was supposed to end for the barbarian. This was not how the Discworld’s greatest hero imagined it at all.

TROLL BRIDGE is a love-letter to Terry Pratchett and Discworld. It exists because an awful lot of people thought it ought to.

The film is adapted from the short story 'Troll Bridge', published in the anthology 'A Blink of the Screen': discworld.com/?s=blink+of+the+screen

Special thanks to The Pratchett Estate, Discworld.com, The Foundry, Shotgun Software, GarageFarm.NET Render Farm, Golaem, our 300 volunteers, and over 4,500 backers. Every frame pressed with love – this is your production.

Please someone give these people a fat budget for an entire discworld series
  • @mrc3885
Billions and Billions of dollars await whoever puts Terry Pratchett's work into the world with this much understanding and reverence.

It was a great time to work on this project. The small contribution I made animating a few shots and bringing to life Mica the Troll and his family is my small tribute to Discworld's creator.
  • This was clearly made with love. It is an adaptation that Sir Terry wouldn't have just approved, but enjoyed.
  • @SNaomiScott
This is exactly what a Pratchett adaptation should be. BBC America, pay attention!
  • @Majere613
Not only is this fantastic, but I think it's the first time I've watched something where the song in the credits counts as the sequel.

I love Cohen. Terry designed characters to have a theme to their humor. The theme for Cohen basically summed up as: "You can't win! We have 50 men and you're only 1 of you!" "True, but you started with 100 men and I only started with 1 of me. And my back was acting up for a while."

For me, Pratchetts greatest gift was how he used the Discworld to examine and satirise the human condition. So many adaptations of his work miss that but this one nailed it. The changing world and those unable to keep up trying to keep their place in a world they no longer understand. Snowgum did a fantastic job. Many thanks for this rendition of one of Pratchetts least known, but most poignant, stories.

"Having an old age was never part of any plan of mine!" OH CHRIST! YES!
  • @NickJohnCoop
This actually makes me rather angry. This was done by actual fans of Terry ,and is PERFECT,while some proxy show runner massacres the Watch in as cheap and lazy a way as possible with a huge budget by comparison. There’s no Justice is there
  • @ocnier
The "for Terrry Pratchett" hit me hard. I had forgotten. He is still very missed.
  • @MrSgtodd
As a lifelong Pratchett fan i must say you nailed Cohen perfectly how i imagined him.

You know what? I shed a few tears during watching this. Picture was way more than just moving. It was truly Moving. The nostalgia is emanating through the screen. The nostalgia about the better times. Times when trolls were scary, heroes were epic and Sir Terry Pratchett was alive and writing a book every year or two. This short is a proper way to #speakhisname.
  • @ashdebash2008
Simply outstanding. I've been reading Pratchett for over 30 years and this is the closest any film has got to the discworld in my imagination. Do yourself a favour and listen to the song over the credits as well as the film. Made me cry.
  • @Digga1221
This...was perfect. In every way...in the visuals, the story, the casting, the dialogue...all of it. Perfect. Thank you for this beautiful tribute.
  • It took me 5 years but I finally brought myself to finish The Shepherd's Crown today, this is just what I needed to lift my spirits again. GNU Sir Terry Pratchett
  • @nonspiderweb
19:55 "I don't think they ever told me his name!". There's something about that line that i find really depressing it's simple yet tragic.
  • @RandyTheBee
'The Troll Bridge' is far better than we deserve. Thank you, thank you.
