I don't get why people would think any less of a guy that doesn't want a hysterectomy... It's your body. Whatever you do or don't wanna do with it is your business.šŸ’™

I'm a trans man who's getting a hysterectomy in two weeks but really glad you made this video, just because I find it comforting to see more and more trans people feel they can choose the procedures they do and don't want. Also, if you're wondering about getting bottom surgery but don't want a hysto, you should be ok if you don't get a vaginectomy because if you keep the vagina, then you can still get pelvic exams and not miss any health issues. Not a medical expert but I've been reading up a lot on bottom surgeries for trans masc people the past couple years and that's something I've seen come up a few times.

A hysterectomy is a huge decision. Do not rush into anything because of the GIC put pressure on you. But good for you for doing what is best for you. I'm cis and had to have a hysterectomy due to cervical cancer and it can mess with you if you are pressured.

My hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did (cis female with endometriosis), and I'm glad I was able to have it. I'm also glad you're able to NOT have it, since I think bodily autonomy is really important. I'm just boggled that I had to fight to have mine at almost 30, while they're pushing hysterectomies on trans men...
  • I wish to have a hysterectomy, even more than top surgery, because I've had a lot of issues with it and periods are by far my worst dysphoria issue. Also, my grandmother and great grandmother had uterine cancer and my mum showed precancerous signs before getting hers removed. It's most certainly not for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

Honestly....my hysterectomy was the best thing that ever happened to me....and I'm not even trans. Lol (I didn't even think of it as a major surgery....I was back to normal in a week...and that was even with a huge incision....which most people don't even have.) Don't worry if you do need it done at some point. <3

Those tests are exactly why I'm thinking about getting a hysterectomy šŸ˜‚ They scare me a lot even more than the surgery which scares me as well seeing that it's an internal one and ughh sometimes being trans can be so complicated

I love your transparency. I love your channel. I love your relationship. I love it all!

My mum had to have a hysterectomy and they went laproscopically through her belly button, minimally invasive and she was able to return back to work immediately. Just trying to reassure those who would like the surgery, it can be done very non invasively

As I donā€™t really want to have hysterectomy, Iā€™m so glad that you have addressed this, because I thought I would have to have it at some point, since most trans guys do have it.. Luv ya Jamieā¤ļø

  • @enbyishimaru
You're valid just the way you are and I'm sorry that before your consultation people tried to force you to get a hysterectomy. Much love to you and Shaaba!
  • @hayley1180
Love you guys Jamie and Shaaba , šŸ’ž ā¤ļøšŸ’•Lots of love and luck moving forward to a happy life xx

Thanks for being so open :) Unrelated to the content in this video but loving the yellow ā€˜sunshineā€™ chair and the little splash of light mauve (?) in the corner. Have you thought about painting the other part of the wall just to give even more color? Another bold color to match the sunshine or a more muted pastel color to match the wall? Take care! So happy for both of you and the really good place you both seem to be in :)
  • @RedIndra
Thank you, Jamie, for sharing this! I totally support your surgery-avoidance! ;)
  • @tricksykenbbit
It's interesting to hear different perspectives on this topic; I know, for me (NB with huge issues about fertility), a hysto was absolutely necessary (and I'm so happy that mine's done with now; just waiting for top surgery now) so it's cool to hear about your reasoning and identity in regards to this kind of thing. :)
  • @Xosidhe
As long as you donā€™t have dysphoria, a good reason to not get a hysterectomy is those organs hold other organs in place in the abdomen, and it causes massive problems when theyā€™re removed and a cavity is left in place. Many women who have children end up needing hysterectomies, so itā€™s pretty common, but that issue of things shifting is the reason there are so many commercials about female incontinence in older women, let alone lots of other problems caused by things getting rearranged in the abdomen.
  • @itsaspiracle
This might sound odd, but thank you so much for talking about this because it kind of cemented the idea that I do want a hysterectomy as a trans guy. Something about knowing that itā€™s absolutely acceptable not to and knowing that I donā€™t just want it because dude. I appreciate you always talking about stuff like this, man, you rock.
