Regardless of what happens, a race with Sifan Hassan in it is a race to watch.

Hassan should've just run in lane 1. Straight line to the finish. If you get beat, you get beat. She was clearly pushing out in the lanes to try to block Tsegay. I hate that she fell, but she really caused this.

She hit Tsegay so many times with wide strides she almost made Tsegay fall however she got trapped and fall. Great job Tsegay for overcoming and winning the race.

What a race! 5:55 it’s like she knew they were on her heals & she focused more on boxing them out opposed to running straight? Tsegay, was coming hard & think she would have edged her out prior to the fall. Crazy race 💪

This time Hassan's roller derby tactics worked against her. We all remember how she so cleverly screened out Gidey in the torrid, Tokyo summer heat. Two elbows to the chest of Tsegay in this one didn't produce the same result, and if she'd stayed on her feet, I'm not sure Tsegay wouldn't have passed her at the tape. Thank you, NBC, for not giving away the result, neither in your title nor in the photo. (Showing Hassan with a smile was a nice red herring.)

Hassan clearly had lane 1 to herself but she pushed to lane 2 to block the other runner and tripped over her own legs. For her to appear as though something nefarious occurred when she clearly did that over-stride is shady!
