That advice about clearly showing each book is SO good - I'm always failing on that one -
  • @readandre-read
Your commandments are very encouraging! Yes to showing the books clearly - no flashing! I love it when people respond to videos by converting them into tags.
  • @HannahsBooks
What warm and wonderful advice! Thanks, Shelly.

This is such a lovely video. And at the remembering other book tubers/ book viewers section I teared up, as I think that remembering can be a big part of gratitude. Best of wishes as you finish out your school year!
  • This is an interesting discussion happening. You make some really good points with your commandments, Shelly. 😊💙
  • Haha the networking one 😂 I agree with the stealing one as well, although I would probably say inspired instead, and the credit is a given! And when the ideas for videos start forming, it’s really time to start a channel! And experimenting is so fun, and that’s the whole point for me 😊 Interesting chat!

Great video. I missed Steve’s but will watch it now. I really liked your last two in particular. I can think of loads of commenters who’ve just drifted away and who I miss

I love seeing these commandment videos! It's so fun seeing what everyone likes and dislikes in terms of booktube. Your thoughts were great. Love the encouragement to participate! It's such a good way to make friends and keep things fun. :) Great thoughts as well on people who have moved on from the space and how to handle the change of booktube. I may borrow this concept and make my own 10 commandments.
  • This is a lovely video. Joining in, having fun, giving care and consideration to the people who may watch and being kind overall are the rules I try to stick to.

I love the idea of making new booktube friends in the wider space but I have this fear of approaching booktubers. I felt completely shunned at BookNetFest a few years back (2018) when I had a brand new channel and I still have a small channel that doesn't lend itself well to collaborating with anyone because everyone's bigger than me. I have Imposter Syndrome and fear. Not a great mix, right? But I LOVE the 10 Commandments Tag and will totally think of what my 10 are! Thank you for sharing!
  • I'm fairly new to your channel, and generally, not much of a commenter, so this is my "hi!".
  • @novelideea
🥰 “Stealing” ideas makes BookTube go ‘round ❣️ Thanks for advocating for it🤭 (or maybe validating would be a better word?)
  • This was fun, thanks for sharing. I'm new to your channel. You remind me so much of a friend of mine :). Looking forward to your future videos.
  • @AZWahineReads
Thanks for sharing this your thoughts on BookTube best practices. I appreciated your take on BookTube culture and your shared experiences.

I really enjoyed this video! So many great commandments. As a commenter without a channel, I have been hesitant to get involved in challenges and things, because I was never sure if it was meant for me. But I have recently participated in some reading challenges and even judged a few rounds for the BookTube Prize. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming and I’m so glad I took that first scary step. 😉💕
  • Number 10 is hard. As someone whose channel has just not grown. I have to remind myself that I do this for myself other people enjoying is a bonus
