Amana Radarange Microwave Oven model 7 circa 1976

This is my 1976 model 7 Amana Radarange microwave oven. Still cooking after all these years which is a testament to the quality. This oven weighs a ton, well maybe 60 or 70 pounds and the door on it is like a bank vault, heavy and all chrome. This was the first Radarange model equipped with the then new Cookmatic power shift lever so you could adjust the temperature from low thru defrost to high

    I grew up with one of these and my mom still uses it, althought it's making a very loud whistling sound now. I just love the turn dials, always takes me a while to figure out push-button microwaves after all these years!

    I've got the 1972 version but don't use it anymore even though it works well, I just prefer the newer one with the convection feature and the automatic turntable.

    These oldies scare me, because back then the safety measures were much less then they are today.
