  • I'm 77 eating a plant based diet I feel and think like a 40 yr old I don't have any pain or other problems its worth every sacrifice
  • @rendoughty
Love this!! 57-year-old male, 5 years plant-based. My doctor was getting ready to prescribe meds for my high cholesterol. I begged her to give me 6 months to improve it with diet and exercise and she rolled her eyes, smiled, and said, "What could it hurt? Sure, I'll give you 6 months. I went whole food plant-based. In 6 months my LDL cholesterol went from 134 to 81. 6 months later it had dropped to 68.

As far as this new way of eating taking a lot of time, in my experience, it only takes a lot of time for a few months. You're learning. Once you learn how to shop and prepare your food, it's not any more time consuming than it was before. As for cost? I no longer purchase meat, cheese, eggs, milk, butter, or ice cream. I'm pretty sure I'm spending less money eating whole food plant-based. Thank you, Rich. I love and appreciate your work!!

Going on 5 years plant based. Onset cardiovascular and type two diabetes. Took about 6 weeks to rid the diabetes and here we are 5 years later, I bike upwards of 100 miles a week, run 50 miles a week. I'm 36 and I'm the healthiest I've ever been. Thank you everyone who helped. If you ate plants and told me to eat plants, you f*cking helped me! So I thank all of you for helping me find me! Life is great! Health is wealth!
  • March 2023: 20 years vegan. 61 years old. Someone last week thought Iā€™m 43 lol. I actually feel better now than when I was a carnivore in my 30s. Best health decision I ever made, though I originally switched to a plant-based diet to avoid animal cruelty. Excited to see what the next 20, 30, 40 years have in store šŸ˜
  • My wife and I had changed to a plant based diet but when she got the cancer diagnosis her doctors didnā€™t know how to work with plant based. They were all sold on Keto so we switched to Keto to make it easier. Originally we switched to plant based because my blood work came back so bad and I wanted to try it. Within 6 weeks I had reversed EVERYTHING. I had crossed over to type 2, and that was no longer an issue. So, my wife passed and my diet was complete garbage after that this last year and my heart has started to give me fits. Blood pressure is out of control even being on multiple BP drugs. Iā€™ve switched back to plant based now and we will see how quickly I can change my body once again.
  • I'm addicted to food, and it's a big unhealthy part of my "personality". I used to be addicted to drugs, and I think once I kicked that habit, I picked up food as my vice. I love all animals and I find my own hypocrisy to be conflicting. I weigh more than I ever have, have more health problems than when I was in active addiction, and I think it's time I give this a real go.

43:02 where Dr. Garth Davis is talking about how your tastebuds change to crave a kale salad, etc. I was one of those people that never thought I wouldnā€™t want processed foods, but Iā€™m 2+ years plant-based and the thought of some of the food I used to eat is seriously off-putting. I ate one tiny bite of a ā€œnormalā€ brownie recently and I had to spit it out. It tasted insanely sweet, felt greasy in my mouth, and had a chemical aftertaste. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes are as delicious to me as fried junk food used to be! Not to mention Iā€™ve easily lost 75lbs and feel better now at 44 than I felt in my 20s.
  • @norwaysuem
I wish i could convince people. They all think im nuts. But i will carry on
  • @123pickles
'Animal Compassion' was my reason for becoming 100% plant-based 1/1/18. Live in rural Arkansas and watch the death trucks stuffed with chickens drive by every week. Surrounded by chicken farms so this weekly parade keeps me on track. I remember the first time I went shopping and only bought vegetables. Got home and just stared at this pile of veggies. Felt very confused. So, I started watching podcases about the superior nutrition in plants vs meat. Within 2 weeks I had no more bone pain in my knees, shoulder or lower back. No more acid reflux. Plus, my conscience was finally clear. I did not support animal cruelty in any way.
  • @Kiyarose3999
Since I went Vegan 38 years ago I have never once ā€˜ā€™felt afraid to stand up for myselfā€™ā€™ etc, because I am standing up proudly for the voiceless animals!. That is the difference between a ā€˜ā€™plant based dietā€™ā€™ and Veganism that is an ethical philosophical position! šŸŒ»
  • @blimpsgo180
I could name a massive number of people in my life who have cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and many other health concerns, but I'm not going to do that. What I will say is I feel like such a Cassandra saying a plant-based diet can save you, and not being taken seriously. Thank you for preaching the Gospel Rich.
  • @ba77leman.
I went alcohol free 4/18. Next up is plant based.....
My 48th bday is sat. Time to start-up my gym practice, too. Thx for the motivation šŸŽ šŸ„— šŸ«˜ not only is this content curation very timely, but also the synergistic affect of removing booze has finally fixed my sleep. Honestly dreaming like i did in my twenties šŸ˜® šŸ’¤
  • @Moriah7913
I took a year off being vegan and saw my health decline. I'm back to vegan now and am determined to stick with it this time!
  • @paulb4496
At 6 feet tall and 215 pounds (having weighed 145 lbs. In high school) I had high blood pressure, Arthritis, Asthma, hay fever, diverticulitis and felt terrible and had no energy.
6 months on the McDougall diet (vegan focused on starch). I lost 50 pounds and all my health issues are gone.
God bless you both for spreading the word! I have enjoyed your videos...keep up the good work Rich!
  • @sparshgadkari
This video is rich roll assembling the avengers of plant based nutrition. Such a great video.
  • @sonyaneal6539
Thank you for the information in this discussion! I'm turning 60 in a few days. A little history... I've always been active, in truth ADHA ruled! I came out of the womb a carnivore, raised on a farm. Have always recognized eating fruits and vegetables made me feel better, but only carried around the thought of going vegetarian without ever doing it. My older sister was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, and it was that event, her diagnosis that pushed me to eliminate animal protein, except egg and cheese, from my diet. Fast forward to now, January 2024, I'm now eleven days into being vegan. I feel so much better. I could say so much more but I highly recommend anyone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired....try eating more and more plants, you'll never regret it. My motivation for eating this way boils down to spiritual, physical and psychological reasons. I do not want to live the remaining years of my life being a burden to myself, my son nor society. It's just that simple and I feel great!
Thanks again for your discussions about plant based diets backed by science.
  • @EarthDivas
Just listened to first few minutes, then had to hit pause and comment.

Iā€™m vegan. Have been for a few years.

    My wife is keto.

We make it work. And itā€™s very easy.

Everything boils down to planning the menu.

Do we fix a nice vegan meal for me, she eats same or someā€¦ but then we grill shrimp, fish, chicken or beef for her.

She wonā€™t / canā€™t eat rice, pasta, potatoesā€¦ so those we put in separate plate.

    Her diet works for her.

    My diet works for me.

    Itā€™s very easy.

We both love broccoli and Brussels sproutsā€¦ kale salad, etc.

So find the things you have in common that you love. Share those.

    Then separate out the others.

    Easy breezy, lemon squeezee.
  • Woah thanks for this! I have been plant based for 6+ years and seeing some reminders like this keep me staying on track!
  • @1voiceworks
Hi, "D"...77 and vegan...fabulous. I've been a vegan for 38 years and, like you, at 71 I still run every day and have more energy than kids half my age. Almost every person I meet observes, "You have so much energy!" I sleep well, love to dance even if it's only with my little dogs. We are created herbivores and respect what herbivores eat. When we follow species specific diets we thrive.
  • I live in a mixed marriage. How I handle it is that I make lots of vegetable dishes and if he wants to eat meat, he cooks his own meat and eats the vegetables I make. No judgement, no fuss.
