Jerry knew he was “ knocking on heaven’s door”. My friend played that song on an acoustic the night before he died suddenly from an aneurysm. Somehow his spirit knew.

My Uncle Mike was part of the local load in crew for this gig. My Uncle said Garcia peeled over 2K to him and said.."go find me some smack and one of those sandwiches with french fries on it".

Jerry was the only one to do what he did and the only one who ever will. I draw so much inspiration from him and how not every show was perfect but that wasn’t even what it was about. It was this amazing sense of collectivism that happened when they played. Magic. Pure magic.

I bought this record at Sam Goody in the GalleryMall Philly 1986. Had to beg my buddy to lend me 5 bucks to cover it. Shit was hard to get. Almost outta print. My neighbors were passed. WharfRat, The Other One. Shit, the whole album max volume all summer long.

(Bob Weir+) Ratdog played a very sad rendition of: Knocking on Heaven's Door on Aug.25th, 1995@The Tower Theater, Upper Darby, Pa., just 2wks. or so after Jerry Garcia died. Not one dry eye in the house 😢🐕💀
