  • 2:01 Vitamin C levels are higher when we're young -deplete as we age or through sun exposure/pollution How does vitamin C work 2:34 it's an antioxidant 2:58 it's a tyrosinase inhibitor 3:11 boosts collagen production Types of Vitamin C 3:32 L-ascorbic acid *her least fav, due to low pH and prone to skin irritation These are Vitamin C derivatives (low irritation, converts to L-ascorbic once on skin) 4:14 sodium ascorbyl phosphate *loves, non-irritating and water-soluble 4:56 magnesium ascorbyl phosphate *really likes, 60% converts to L-ascorbic acid 5:15 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid *better than MAP bc 80% converts to L-ascorbic acid 5:44 ascorbyl glucoside *goes on skin non-irritating and gets hydrolyzed to ascorbic acid 6:01 tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate *fat-soluble, better penetration into dermis *encapsulated vitamin C would also penetrate dermis better 6:37 use with other antioxidants (stabilize each other) -green tea extract -resveratrol -vitamin e -vitamin a -ferulic acid 6:58 which Vitamin C works well with exfoliation? all except L-ascorbic acid 7:19 Vitamin C derivatives work well with other ingredients -vitamin A (retinol) -niacinamide -peptides -ceramides 7:44 which actives are okay to wear during the day Do not wear during the day if: -it has low pH -it will irritate the skin -it exfoliates or takes off the top layer of skin 8:06 can wear Vit C derivatives, avoid L-ascorbic acid Product recommendations 9:31 Facetheory Regena C30 Vitamin C Serum ->> 30% ethyl ascorbic acid, anhydrous so won't oxidize 10:03 Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution 10:09 Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum ->>22% encapsulated L-ascorbic acid

  • @joycekhoo4568
Video ideas: 1) Are korean skincare ingredients like ginseng, mugwort, centella asiatica, ferments, honey suitable for SOC 2) Dos and don’ts for SOC 3) Are there any long term side effects of using any actives? If so what are they?
  • @msjaejontelle
I would like to see a "best of" series when it comes to a categorization of products by skin type(oily, dry, sensitive, mature, combo). I would also love to see more sensitive skin recommendations especially since you said in a previous video you have sensitive skin. 3) Would love to see products recommendations from black owned or minority owned brands. And finally I see a lot of videos talking about dark spots but I have light spots because I am very melanated. This may be considered hyperpigmentation but I get confused with products because they talk about stopping melanin production to lighten the dark spots. I don't think that is the goal especially for people of color. If a video on this already exist, please link it in your reply.

Dr. Vanita, I've learned SO MUCH about skincare for skin of color through your videos. Not only do I appreciate your passion for skincare, but how you are using your platform to change skincare for generations to come and give back to your listeners. You are truly inspiring! Here are my 3 video reccomendations: 1. Purging vs. Breakouts 2. Summer Skincare Routine / An Updated Winter Skincare Routine 3. Using Oil-Based Cleansers and Water-Based Cleansers

  • @jessicafung7565
Three questions: 1) How to know if vitamin C has oxidized, can we still use it? 2) Can we mix brands like Face Theory, Paula’s Choice, The Ordinary, and Inkey List together in a rountine? 3) How long does it take to see a change in (PIE or PIH)pigmentation from Tranexamic Acid?
  • @VeronicaSpark

  • LOVED this video 😍 3 video ideas: • How to use Azelaic acid? • Recommendations for spf for the body. Should we be using mineral everywhere? • Weekly routines for all skin types just to make things really straight forward for us (even though you're already giving us so much info🙈) When to exfoliate, what products to avoid when exfoliating, when to mask, which actives should be used every night etc x
  • @sinycheriyan8056
Firstly I got to thank you for giving us insight on the formulation of products and how to understand what is right for every skin. My 3 questions would be: 1. What is your diet? You had mentioned that once or twice in two videos. 2. How to even the skin. Like there these dips in the skin caused by old acnes. How to treat it? 3.And will the old marks fade?
