A grand military procession has taken the Queen's coffin to Westminster Abbey for her state funeral.

The procession involved 6,000 representatives from all three armed forces, with 98 Royal Navy sailors towing the 123-year-old gun carriage.

Senior members of the Royal Family walked behind the coffin, which was carried by the military bearer party of the Grenadier Guards.

As a Scotsman, I'm so proud that my beloved Queen Elizabeth II chose to see out her days in Scotland. Rest in Peace Ma'am. God Save The King. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

  • RIP to the Queen of Canada. She was our Queen for almost half of our nation's 153 year old history. And we are immensely proud to have her as our sovereign and head of state. Long lived the Queen. Dieu protège le Roi! Great to see our Mounties leading the procession.
  • No other modern nations can put on as splendid a public ceremony as can the UK. They have done their late Queen proud.
  • Everytime I see this, I am speechless and in awe of the Brits. They performed a grand send off flawlessly, movingly and superbly for the longest reigning queen.

When the bagpipes started up, I had tears and goosebumps at the same time. Truly haunting sound that embodies this truly historic moment. She now moves from living monarch to historic figure. We will remember this day forever.

The bagpipes and thunderous drums are just immense. Most emotional part of the state funeral for me. Incredibly proud of our armed services but even prouder of her late majesty. What a lady, missed by us all but she will live on in our hearts and minds 💔😢
