This scene actually hints at how strong Benny is. He was weakened here, but to defeat him, the villain had to keep punching so long, he ended up dying of exhaustion. I'm calling it now: Benny will come back by the final season, and that's when his true strength will be revealed, as the final boss.

I expected this to end with the villain finally saying, "Look, he ain't showing up. Are... are you okay? He's obviously not the friend you thought he was. C'mon, just tell me... I'll drive you to the hospital, we can talk on the way." And just take pity on poor Benny.
